  • Squad Busters will officially shut down on December 14, 2026, Supercell confirms.
  • The game will leave the Google Play Store and App Store on December 1, 2026.
  • Supercell announced the game's closure in October 2025 after development failed to meet expectations.

I covered Squad Busters‘ shutdown announcement last October, when Supercell confirmed that the game would be ending development and eventually shutting down in 2026. December last year did deliver us the final in-game update, and now, the game will completely shut doors on December 14, 2026.

The game will be removed from the Google Play Store and App Store on December 1, but existing players can keep playing until the servers close two weeks later. All events and timers will end on December 14, 2026, so there isn’t much time left to enjoy those final matches.

Squad Busters’ shutdown raises questions about whether it deserved more time like mo.co

It feels strange to finally put a date on something we have known was coming for almost a year. Squad Busters had a lot going for it on paper, bringing together familiar characters from Supercell’s games in one chaotic multiplayer experience. Still, players felt there was something missing.

At the time, Supercell explained that Squad Busters had failed to reach the long-term quality bar it expects from games intended to run for years. The Heroes Update, introduced around the game’s first anniversary, was an attempt to reshape its direction, but it ultimately did not change the studio’s decision to move on to other projects.

Thank you to everyone who played – and for all the squads and fun moments along the way. 🫶

Supercell has already disabled in-app purchases, and the window to transfer purchase value to other Supercell games closed at the end of 2025. There is nothing else players need to do before the shutdown, but I honestly wish Squad Busters had been given the same time Supercell is now giving mo.co.

The studio is willing to take mo.co back to beta, rethink its direction, give it a new look, and try to win players over again, even after struggling to maintain its audience. Maybe Squad Busters deserved a similar chance to figure things out rather than heading towards a shutdown within a year of its release.

Of course, the two games have their own challenges and you also see a different potential if you are in the creative room of any title, not just Squad Busters, but it still makes you wonder what might have happened if the title had been given more time to find its footing.

I’m not sure how many players are still logging in regularly, but for those who stuck around, December 14 will be the final goodbye. We knew this day was coming, yet seeing the exact date makes it feel disappointed, again. Squad Busters is almost out of time, and this time, there’s no coming back.
