Epic 推动全 AI 开发，迪士尼星战与漫威射击项目延期

Epic Games is signaling they're going further in with AI in a recent report centered on the delay of a Star Wars and Marvel collaboration in development with Disney. According to Bloomberg, the development team is being told to use more AI tools to wrap up the game.

The game, which is a shooter featuring characters from both franchises, was originally planned for a release in March, but there's been no new launch timing assigned to the project following the delay. According to insiders, the team was instructed to use an "AI first" production model, using applications such as Claude to develop code, which will then apparently be guided by humans to the finish line.

They're also being directed to use "AI workflows" for all art for the game, said a director on the project.

This isn't the first time Epic Games has pushed AI, as we well know with Fortnite's infamous Darth Vader voice over, and other AI-generated assets that have made their way into the game in recent times to much backlash from the populace.

Just today, Epic's boss Tim Sweeney brushed off these concerns, and chimed in, saying, "We have a huge pivot underway here at Epic, moving developers around to retool for maximum AI acceleration. The aim isn't to do the same stuff with fewer people, but to enable everyone here to build MORE and BETTER stuff, and to bring the benefits to all teams using Unreal."

On Disney's side of things, they invested a cool $1.5 billion in Epic back in 2024, with this title set to launch their collaborative partnership. As to when and how it will ultimate surface given this update? That remains to be seen.
