Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 Are Out Now on Nintendo Switch 2
Capcom released Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 today, October 16, 2026. All three remakes are available digitally on the Nintendo eShop, each sold as a separate purchase with an early adopter discount.
Video Muted
Capcom set the date in a September 10 press release that also scheduled Monster Hunter Wilds for Switch 2 on December 4. The company says the goal is to grow the audience for its biggest titles, including Resident Evil 2, which has passed 20 million units sold worldwide.
The Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes previously reached the original Switch only as streaming Cloud Versions, and the Resident Evil 4 remake had never been released on a Nintendo console before today.
Switch 2 Prices and Launch Discounts
The early adopter discount runs until November 7, 2026. On the US eShop, the sale ends at 11:59 PM PT on November 7, which is 2:59 AM ET and 7:59 AM GMT on November 8. These are the US eShop prices during the discount window and after it ends.
- Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition: $29.99 (regular price $39.99)
- Resident Evil 3: $19.79 (regular price $29.99)
- Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition: $39.99 (regular price $49.99)
Buying all three during the sale costs $89.77, compared with $119.97 at full price. Capcom has not announced a bundle for the three remakes, so each one is a separate eShop purchase.
What Each Switch 2 Edition Includes
Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition
The three releases do not carry the same amount of extra content. Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition is the largest package, while Capcom’s lineup page confirms that Resident Evil 3 ships without Resident Evil Resistance, the online multiplayer mode bundled with the game on other platforms.
The Resident Evil 4 extras add a full second campaign, while the Resident Evil 2 extras focus on costumes and weapons.
- Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition: The main game, the Separate Ways scenario starring Ada Wong, The Mercenaries mode, the Treasure Map: Expansion, bonus costumes, and deluxe weapons.
- Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition: The main game, extra costumes for Leon and Claire, three Samurai Edge deluxe weapons, and the Original Ver. Soundtrack Swap.
- Resident Evil 3: The main game, without the Resistance multiplayer mode.
The Treasure Map: Expansion marks extra treasure on the Resident Evil 4 map. Players chasing every collectible in the remake can pair it with the Resident Evil 4 Clockwork Castellans locations guide.
Cloud Version Saves and Physical Copies
Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition
Players who finished Resident Evil 2 or 3 through the original Switch Cloud Versions start over on Switch 2. Capcom states that saved data from the Cloud Versions cannot be shared or transferred to the new releases, and it has not announced an upgrade offer for Cloud Version owners.
Physical copies of all three games arrive on January 29, 2027. Capcom has not stated if the physical versions hold the full game on the cartridge or use Game-Key Cards, so the digital release is the only way to play the remakes on Switch 2 this Halloween season.
The new releases complete Capcom’s Switch 2 lineup of modern Resident Evil games. Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition, Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, and Resident Evil Requiem have been on the console since February 27, 2026.
The launch discount on all three remakes ends on November 7, and the physical editions follow on January 29, 2027.
