Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will begin its second year of content on November 3, 2026, with a major update introducing Duel Mode, new gadgets, free characters, and the first of six premium DLC packs. SEGA revealed the roadmap during the World Championship Finals livestream, alongside permanent price reductions for the game’s Standard and Digital Deluxe editions.
The announcement followed the conclusion of the 2026 World Championship, where Exponso from Mexico claimed the title after four hours of competition. More than 40,000 players participated in the online qualifiers over the summer, with 24 finalists traveling to New York to compete for the championship.
The Year Two update will introduce Duel Mode, a new one-on-one racing option in which players must use items and a new Duel Boost mechanic to gain an advantage. The mode will offer offline races against CPU rivals, standard online matchmaking, limited-time best-of-10 competitive events, and customizable races against friends. Defeating all CPU rivals in Rival Duel will unlock rewards, including a special machine.
SEGA is also introducing the Grand Master Plate, a new gadget plate that adds a seventh Super Slot for one-slot gadgets. Gadgets placed in this slot receive an additional boost to their effects, while 15 new gadgets will expand the available customization options at launch. Characters added to the roster after the game’s September 25, 2025 release will also become available as CPU opponents in online and offline modes.
The first three free character additions include Bayonetta on November 3, followed by a McLaren Racing machine later that month and Aigis in early 2027. Each character release will be accompanied by a themed Festival event, with new Festivals running for 10 days and returning events available for shorter periods.
Season Pass Two will introduce six premium DLC packs featuring collaborations with other entertainment franchises. The Godzilla Pack launches alongside the Year Two update on November 3, adding the Godzilla Escape course, three machines, and additional music and sound effects. The remaining announced packs include:
- EVANGELION Pack: January 2027, featuring the Tokyo-III course, Rei Ayanami, Asuka Shikinami Langley, and three machines.
- Virtual Sanrio Puroland Pack: Q2 2027, featuring Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and their themed machines.
- SEGALAND Pack: Q3 2027, featuring the SEGALAND course and three machines inspired by classic SEGA racing games.
- Midgar Pack: Q3 2027, based on the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake series.
- Reload Revival Royal Pack: Q4 2027, based on the Persona series.
SEGA has permanently reduced the Standard Edition price from $69.99 to $39.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition from $89.99 to $59.99. Season Pass Two is available for $29.99, while the Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition costs $59.99 and includes the base game and the new season pass. Existing owners are advised against purchasing the Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition because it includes another copy of the Standard Edition.
A physical Year One Edition is also available at select retailers for $59.99, bundling the base game with Season Pass One, a reversible 35th Anniversary coversheet, and a 35th Anniversary logo patch. Season Pass Two owners who also own Season Pass One will receive Super Shadow and the Super Dark Flare machine as bonus content, with both becoming available on November 3.
