It looks like Ubisoft’s continued re-molding into its Creative Houses model is resulting in further job cuts for the studios under its umbrella. The company is seeking over 100 job cuts this time around as it closes developer RedLynx and cuts jobs at Skull and Bones developer Ubisoft Singapore.
RedLynx, which was acquired by Ubisoft in 2011, is perhaps most widely known for the Trials games, a series of side-scrolling platformers where people had to navigate tricky obstacle courses on a bike. The Finnish studio’s closure will see 52 workers lose their jobs and is “subject to the local change negotiation process” according to a statement from the company.
That same statement also confirmed that a further 70 jobs are being cut from Ubisoft Singapore as part of that aforementioned Creative Houses alignment. “The studio remains an important part of Ubisoft’s global production organization,” reads the statement. “We deeply value the contributions of both teams and recognize the impact this may have on our colleagues.”
On the subject of Skull and Bones, the multiplayer title’s Year 3 Season 2 continues on as it has since this past August, with the latest patch primarily focused on fixing some bugs and launching a few in-game events.
