Fallout 4 mod Detour is out on Nexus Mods with a new town, story quests, more than 600 lines of voiced dialogue and no AI voices, built by four developers.

A new Fallout 4 quest mod called Detour is out now on Nexus Mods, adding a new town, new story quests and more than 600 lines of voiced dialogue.

The mod sends players to a brand-new settlement to explore, with over a dozen fully-voiced characters to meet. Player dialogue is voiced as well, as in the base game. Beyond the quests, Detour brings new vendors, a player house and clothing to the table.

Four developers are credited with the bulk of the build, backed by a large pool of voice actors. They mix vanilla Fallout 4 assets with new ones, an approach that keeps the new town in step with the base game’s look rather than standing apart from it.

No AI, and more to come

The team says no AI was used in the mod’s creation, a point that carries weight with players watching generated voices and art spread through modding. The claim is the developer’s own.

The developer also frames Detour as a “platform” to expand over time, which positions the current town and quests as a foundation rather than a finished release.

Free on PC

Detour is a free download for the PC version of Fallout 4, distributed through Nexus Mods rather than Steam, with no console version mentioned. The base game it builds on launched on 9 November 2015 and still holds an 84 Metascore on PC.
