Ubisoft has proposed closing Finnish studio RedLynx, the team behind Trials, in a move that could affect up to 52 positions. The proposal is still subject to Finland’s local change-negotiation process, and while the series’ future is now uncertain, Ubisoft has not announced that Trials is cancelled.

The restructuring also affects Ubisoft Singapore, where 70 positions have been impacted. GamesIndustry.biz reported the announcement, with VGC and Engadget also reporting the proposed RedLynx closure and Singapore job cuts.

What Ubisoft’s restructuring means for both studios

Ubisoft says the Singapore changes are intended to align the studio with upcoming production needs, and that it will remain part of the publisher’s global production organisation. RedLynx and Ubisoft Singapore had both been placed in Ubisoft’s Creative Network, a division providing central support to other teams.

The proposed closure is not the same as a confirmed end for Trials. GamesIndustry.biz reported that RedLynx is not currently assigned to a project and has no sustainable standalone titles, but neither Ubisoft nor the supplied reporting has identified a new Trials game or another studio taking over the series.

That distinction matters for a franchise built around the particular pleasure of trying, failing and launching a motorbike rider into another obstacle. For now, there’s no announced next chapter-but no cancellation announcement either.

RedLynx’s long run with Trials

Ubisoft acquired RedLynx in 2011 after the success of Trials 2 and Trials HD. The studio went on to make further entries in the series, with Trials Fusion arriving in 2019, before RedLynx became a support team within Ubisoft’s development organisation.

RedLynx had already faced staff cuts in 2025. At the time, the studio said it would move from multiplatform development to a focus on smaller screens, with two unannounced mobile games reported to be in development. Their current status has not been confirmed. Other studio changes across the industry show how a publisher can restructure development without announcing that an established game series is over; Nerial’s development shutdown offers a separate example of that distinction.

The next step is a negotiation process

Ubisoft’s cost-reduction programme is in what the company has described as its final stage, alongside a broader reorganisation into six Creative Houses. The publisher has closed studios in Stockholm, Halifax, Winnipeg and Belgrade this year, cancelled six games and cut jobs across its workforce. September also brought a name change for Creative House 2, which became Massive Entertainment after the Swedish studio behind The Division.

Ubisoft Singapore began as a support studio in 2008, later working on naval combat in Assassin’s Creed before leading development of Skull and Bones, released in 2024. The latest moves add to the continuing wave of major publisher restructuring, including changes and job cuts across Xbox’s studios.

The RedLynx proposal must now go through Finland’s local change-negotiation process. Until that process concludes, the closure is not final-and Ubisoft has not outlined what, if anything, comes next for Trials.
