Asha Sharma 称 Xbox 不能“只”依赖过往系列生存

Asha Sharma Tells Employees That Xbox Won't Survive By 'Only' Relying On Past Franchises

As we've already covered at Pure Xbox, Asha Sharma was part of a Town Hall meeting at Microsoft HQ last week where she updated employees on the future of the brand, discussing various topics that were shared by Windows Central.

That same outlet has shared a few more comments that were apparently made by Sharma regarding Xbox's first-party plans, including how her team are "backing our strongest franchises". The Xbox boss has alluded to this before — a desire to keep enhancing the likes of Minecraft, Fallout, Forza, Gears, Halo and whatever else falls under the "strongest" banner — which has led some people to worry that Xbox might focus on past successes alone.

However, Sharma also apparently told her employees that Xbox "won't survive" by "only" focusing on these, and that she would "also like to see us continue to create enduring new IP".

Here's an apparent transcription of what she said about this during the meeting:

"We're backing our strongest franchises. I want our great games to become great global billion-dollar franchises. I would also like to see us continue to create enduring new IP. We will not survive if we only revive on the past. We have to find new ways, and courage, to have invention on new IP, that reaches new sets of audiences."

Elsewhere in the meeting, she apparently talked about chances to grow the Candy Crush developer King and the overall casual gaming market, as well as "simplying" Xbox's studios - seemingly a reference to how multiple Xbox first-party teams / games were recently moved under the Activision and Bethesda banners.

Of course, it still sounds very much like Sharma wants to ensure Xbox's biggest franchises can become even bigger in the future, but it's reassuring to hear that she doesn't think that relying solely on the likes of Halo and Gears will be the key to Xbox's long-term first-party success.

There's the obvious elephant in the room — Xbox has parted ways with a number of studios recently — but with so much talent still under the Xbox umbrella, they'll surely be able to figure out a way to "have invention on new IP" and reach "new sets of audiences" in the future.
