Kakao Games has announced that 'Path of Exile 2' (POE2), the highly anticipated hack-and-slash action RPG it operates in South Korea, will officially launch on December 12 (KST), following nearly two years of development and refinement.
Since entering Early Access in December 2024, 'POE2' has attracted significant attention from hack-and-slash fans worldwide, reaching No. 1 on Steam's global top-selling games chart even before its official release.
Following its role as the Korean publisher of the original title, Kakao Games has continued to oversee domestic distribution of the sequel. The company has successfully established the game in South Korea through localized services, including dedicated Korean servers, full Korean-language support, free access at PC cafés and exclusive benefits tailored to local players.

Developer Grinding Gear Games has used the nearly two-year Early Access period not merely to introduce additional content but also to refine the game by incorporating player feedback in real time.
Major updates have included the introduction of the new Huntress class and Act 4 campaign through the 'Dawn of the Hunt' expansion, the addition of the new Druid class, and an overhaul of the endgame Atlas system. These improvements have significantly expanded the game's depth and scale.
The developer has also continued to adjust class balance and substantially improve item trading and quality-of-life systems, further enhancing the game's signature appeal of experimenting with diverse character builds.
With its official launch on December 12, 'POE2' will transition to a free-to-play (F2P) model. While players were previously required to purchase a Supporter Pack to access the game during Early Access, the full release will allow anyone to play without an upfront purchase, potentially accelerating the influx of new players.
To celebrate the launch, Kakao Games is organizing a global pre-registration verification event, offering various merchandise prizes, including limited-edition figurines, mugs and extended mouse pads.
Ahead of the official release, Grinding Gear Games will host 'ExileCon 2026', a major offline event in New Zealand on November 7 and 8.
Returning after three years, the event will feature a playable demonstration of the new Duelist class, which will be included in the official release. The developer will also unveil major upcoming systems and the latest information about the game.
