Xbox Unveils Pocket-Sized Nano Controller for $49.99Microsoft has announced a brand-new Xbox Nano Controller, introducing a significantly smaller and more affordable alternative to its traditional Xbox Wireless Controller. Designed for portability, the new accessory is small enough to fit inside a pocket while retaining the familiar controls of a full-sized gamepad.

The announcement was made on October 14 through Xbox Wire, with Microsoft confirming that the controller is available to pre-order for $49.99 ahead of its November release.

Measuring just over five inches in length and weighing 3.5 ounces (approximately 99 grams), the Nano is officially the smallest controller Microsoft has ever produced. Despite its compact dimensions, it includes all 18 standard gameplay inputs found on a regular Xbox controller.

The smaller form factor is primarily aimed at younger players, people with smaller hands, and gamers looking for a lightweight accessory they can easily carry while traveling.

Unlike some compact gaming controllers that remove buttons to save space, the Xbox Nano Controller preserves the familiar layout, including analog sticks, directional controls, face buttons, and shoulder inputs.

Microsoft has also equipped the controller with a built-in rechargeable battery, eliminating the need for replaceable AA batteries. Charging is handled through USB-C, although Microsoft notes that the charging cable is sold separately.

Another notable addition is a programmable Action Button, which players can customize for frequently used shortcuts such as taking screenshots, recording gameplay, and other supported functions.

The Nano also supports both Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing it to work across several platforms without requiring a dedicated controller for each device.

According to Microsoft’s official product listing, the controller is compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PCs, Android devices, and iPhones. Bluetooth connectivity also extends to compatible tablets and supported smart TVs.

This means players can use the same compact controller for console gaming, PC titles, and supported mobile games. It can also be used with Xbox Cloud Gaming on compatible devices, although cloud gaming access requires the relevant subscription and supported games.

Microsoft specifically highlighted games such as Minecraft Dungeons II and Forza Horizon 6 as examples of experiences suited to the Nano Controller’s portable design.

The company is also introducing promotional bundles with Samsung and Meta during the holiday season. In the United States, customers purchasing selected Samsung televisions will be eligible for an offer featuring the Nano Controller and two months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for new subscribers.

A similar promotion will be available with the purchase of a Meta Quest headset, giving eligible new Game Pass members a Nano Controller and a two-month subscription.

As for availability, the Xbox Nano Controller launches November 4, 2026, according to the US Microsoft Store. Pre-orders are already live, with the controller priced at $49.99.

The initial rollout covers several regions, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, Germany, France, and numerous other European, Asian, and South American markets. Microsoft has confirmed that additional regions will follow, although pricing and availability may vary by country.

Interested buyers can now pre-order the Xbox Nano Controller through the Microsoft Store or check the official Xbox product page for additional specifications and regional availability.
