That sucks, but at least it's just a month away.

My order still says "Preparing to ship", so I doubt I'll get it on the 15th. Probably Friday.

Gonna be testing out Destiny 2 on this. Beyond that, might use this to work on FF7 Remake and Alan Wake Remastered to see if those are games I'd like to complete

I keep going back and forth on this. It's too late to cancel my order, but I got it from Best Buy, so can return in store if I'm not feeling it when it arrives.

I have a backbone and it mostly works okay on wireless. Wiring my PS5 was great, but then I have an ethernet cord running through my living room. There are certain types of games that probably won't work on wireless (rhythm games, fighting games).

I really just want it for the bigger screen and haptics… so I think it will be worth it???

EDIT: Holy crap, I just read the FAQ and realized my phone is connected to the 2.4 GHz signal. That gets my hopes up!

I'm currently on Alan Wake 2 but I can't wait to play Star Ocean 2 R on this baby. I might launch GT7 since I've yet to try the Spec II update.

I'm currently playing through Dark Souls 2 on my PS5 so I'm going to try and continue it on my Portal like a madman lol. Hopefully I'll be able to pick it up this week!

Nice OT, true it only does streaming, but it's streaming PS5 games, it's like having a portable PS5! but you can only play at home...still awesome IMO. So I just tried remote play on my phone (Like A Dragon: Ishin!) and I didn't notice any lag, so I guess the Portal will run decent on my wifi. I started playing Castlevania SOTN (Castlevania Requiem Collection) last weekend so i'll be continuing my playthrough on the Portal, and besides that its a toss up between Sea of Stars or Octopath Traveller 2, haven't started either yet.

You can play from anywhere in the world so long as you've got a solid Internet connection on both ends. You're not limited to using this at home

yeah I know, but it works best at home, since its on the same network as your PS5, that's what i meant.

Nice OT! 2.4 ghz works well but I read the faq and didn't realize it works better on 5Ghz. Going to make sure my ps5 is set to that

So aside from a larger screen size and the dualsense controls does this have any advantage over the g cloud? I'm assuming you won't be able to stream Xbox and pc on a portal so I'm not sure why you wouldn't spend the extra $50 and get a g cloud unless you plan to play ps games only?

Bigger screen, ergonomics, far simpler to use, DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers.

Sea of Stars is great and would be perfect with the Portal!

And I am happy to hear how comfortable it is… and most of us made fun of the design, well… in the end it worked out pretty well and the most important thing in handheld gaming is the comfort.

There is an initial firmware update to do at least. It's a simple device with a very specific purpose, so we shouldn't go in with the expectation of regular updates. Many do think that once Sony develops an Android cloud streaming app that they could add that functionality to the Portal.

All we can do is wait and see.

Shows that MSRP is $350 and was on sale for $300. Seems as though it has been on sale for $250 earlier this year. Still, at MSRP, the Portal is $150 cheaper. Sure, discounts are a thing but I'm sure the Portal will also get sales here and there.

Regardless, if you're heavily invested in the PlayStation ecosystem and like the Duelsense and larger screen, the Portal is a better, and cheaper, option. However, the G cloud certainly does give you more options for sure.

Context: My home Wifi is based on WiFi 5, 300 down 35-40 up, and my PS5 is hardwired to the modem.

Preface: I'm not into competitive shooters at all anymore, but here is my experience with fast paced games.

Via remote play on my phone + a DualSense mount, I've played Soul Calibur VI, Thunder Ray, Sifu, Streets of Rage 4, Devil May Cry 5, Shredder's Revenge, Ragnarok. Outside of moments where the remote play app would restart my phone (a weird bug on the Android app), I was always surprised at how I forgot that I was streaming. Mind you, I hated remote play prior to the PS5 generation.

Edit: Playing Doom 2018 on it was a really good experience.
