Australian Developer House House have released a statement explaining their decision to not bring their latest title, ‘Big Walk‘ to Xbox.
“The real heart of Big Walk is ultimately you and the friends you bring with you. I think the people that really ‘get’ what Big Walk does so well, and why it sticks in the brain will assuredly annoy everyone that doesn’t get any of that – or won’t play it due to a lack of pals to play it with – over the next few months.
I guess I’m going to be one of those people. Big Walk is a remarkable game that achieves some pure video-game magic. If you’re on the fence and reading this, find your best friend – or friends – and give it a shot. I guarantee it will surprise you, and I think you’ll love the journey.”
Big Walk is the latest title from Untitled Goose Game developer House House, which garnered critical acclaim when it released on PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year. Since that time, the developer shared they have “received many messages and comments, asking about a future Xbox release” and have shared a statement addressing those questions.
The reason, per House House, is in accordance with the “Palestinian-led BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement’s call to boycott Microsoft, and their designation of Microsoft Games (and Xbox) as a priority boycott target” and that while they would love to bring the game to players on the Xbox platform, they will not do so until “Microsoft and/or Xbox have been removed as BDS boycott targets.” Here’s their full statement:
In June 2026 we announced that the release of Big Walk would be limited to computers, Switch 2 and PS5. Since then, we have received many messages and comments, asking about a future Xbox release. We would like to address those questions here:
It has always been our intention for Big Walk to be played by groups of friends, and we know that keeping the game off Xbox runs counter to those intentions. This decision means that some people will miss out on playing Big Walk with their friends, and we understand the disappointment we’re causing. We are disappointed too.
We would love for people to be able to play the game on Xbox, but not until Microsoft and/or Xbox have been removed as BDS boycott targets.
We’ve made this decision with the belief that meaningful change can be made in the world, that coordinated collective action can confront even the most powerful interests, and that one day, Palestine will be free.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely, House House
