Leonida对比GTA 5:《GTA 6》地图大小完整拆解
Leonida vs. GTA 5: The Full GTA 6 Map Size Breakdown

Two sets of numbers have been circling the GTA 6 map for months, and at first glance they don’t agree. Independent measurements put Leonida’s landmass at 83 km², a real jump over GTA 5 but short of the “twice the size” figure that dominated mapping forums for years.
Then Rockstar’s own previews landed, and co-head of development Rob Nelson put official numbers on the table. If you’ve been trying to figure out which number to trust, here’s what both sets actually confirm, and why they line up once you separate land from water.
How Big Is the GTA 6 Map, Really?

GTA 6 is set in Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional take on Florida, with Vice City as the state’s biggest city and the home base of protagonists Jason and Lucia. We already knew from the trailers that Leonida stretches well beyond a single city, and the leaked coordinate data gives us real numbers to work with.
In GTA 6, one coordinate unit maps to one meter, so we can pull distances out of leaked footage with reasonable precision. The drive along Route 1 and I-97, from the industrial area near the naval air base in the Keys up to a northern interchange, runs roughly 21 km. The straight-line distance from the map’s northernmost point to the southern tip of the Keys runs about 17 km, and the full north-to-south estimate reaches around 25 km once you factor in what looks like a Key West analogue.
Where the map impresses us is in how those kilometers get used. Vice City is already larger than Los Santos from GTA 5 on its own. Rockstar puts it at double the size of Los Santos, and community estimates that fold in the surrounding industrial areas stretch that to two-and-a-half times.
The west-coast cities of Port Gellhorn and a nearby unnamed settlement are each described as several times bigger than Paleto Bay, GTA 5’s largest rural town. Driving from Vice Beach to Port Gellhorn via Route 404 covers more than 13 km total: over 8 km from Vice Beach to the southwest city, then another 5 km north.
The southwest city is modeled on Sebring, Florida. The northeast town sits near what appears to be a Cape Canaveral stand-in, based on Melbourne, Florida. Named areas that show up in the leaks include Vice City, Port Gellhorn (sometimes shortened to Ghorn), Key Lento, Ambrosia, Vice Beach, Hamlet, and Waning Sands, plus two industrial zones around Vice City.
One nuance worth knowing: if you include water areas, two GTA 5 maps fit inside Leonida’s boundaries, which is where the “technically twice the size” framing comes from. The land-only figure of 1.67x is the honest number if you’re comparing drivable terrain.
What Rockstar Has Actually Confirmed

For most of this year, everything about the GTA 6 map came from leaks and community math. That changed after Rockstar’s Extended Look gameplay showcase, when Rockstar invited select outlets and content creators to preview the game directly, and Nelson gave them the studio’s figures.
His figures: the whole of Leonida is twice the size of GTA 5’s map and three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2’s, and Vice City proper is double the size of Los Santos. Nelson also said that if you count every city, suburb and small town across the state, Leonida has the equivalent of eleven times the built-up area GTA 5 had. That’s a claim about how much of the map is developed, not about raw landmass, so it sits alongside the twice-the-size figure rather than contradicting it.
Rockstar’s previews also confirmed a list of activities scattered across the map, giving us a clearer sense of what fills out all that landmass outside the main story:
- Jet skiing
- Scuba diving
- Lifting weights
- Target practice
- Shooting hoops
- Race car driving
- Off-road racing
- Backyard wrestling
- Scrolling through social media feeds
We expect Rockstar to confirm more before launch, but the list already hints at how all that space gets filled.
The Community Map Tracking It All

The fan-built State of Leonida interactive map is still the clearest way to see everything the community has pieced together, official confirmations included. As of version 16.0 (updated 20 September 2026), it carries 3,222 total markers: 3,040 landmarks, 93 trailer-sourced locations, 42 leak markers, and 47 screenshot pins.
Under Buildings and Structures, residential locations lead the count at 297, followed by 160 retail spots and 153 transportation nodes, with industrial sites, hotels, and natural points of interest rounding out a very granular breakdown. Another 313 of those markers carry an unconfirmed tag, flagging spots the community has identified but hasn’t pinned down with confidence yet.
The project runs an active contributor leaderboard and layers in comparison overlays for GTA 5, GTA 4, Vice City, San Andreas, and Red Dead Redemption 2, which makes side-by-side scale comparisons straightforward.
A hand-drawn version of the full map, credited to community member Lezzyl on the GTA 6 map Discord, circulated alongside the coordinate-based measurements and helped illustrate just how spread out the Keys section is relative to the mainland.
The community’s version 14 map had predicted Lake Leonida would be significantly larger than it appears in the leaked data, so the v15.0 update revised that section considerably, and v16.0 reworked the scale and coastlines again, bringing the project’s own land estimate down from nearly 110 km² to about 85.6 km², in line with the 83 km² leak measurement. One separate finding from the leaks: speedometers visible in footage show Rockstar has reduced vehicle speeds across the board compared to GTA 5, which will change how traversal time feels regardless of what the raw kilometer figures say.
What the Map Tells You Before Launch
Between the leaks and Rockstar’s own previews, the numbers now broadly agree. The 83 km² land figure holds up, Vice City is confirmed to be bigger than Los Santos, and the city count is higher than GTA 5 offered. The Keys stretch adds genuine north-to-south range even if the land-only figure came in under the straight doubling many fans expected.
If land-only size is what matters to you, Leonida is bigger than GTA 5, though not by as dramatic a margin as early rumors suggested. If city density and named-location count matter more, the leaked and confirmed data together point to a map that packs considerably more into those square kilometers than GTA 5 ever did.
Rockstar has GTA 6 locked in for 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so there’s not much longer to wait before all these figures get put to the test. The studio has also been unusually upfront about what won’t be in single-player, confirming GTA 6 launches without microtransactions or generative AI.
Regional PS5 unlock times will vary by as much as 19 hours between the first and last markets. Stevivor’s PS5 unlock schedule breakdown has the country-by-country timing if you’re planning day one.
