Valve now tells Steam Frame holders whether their order email lands by December or in 2027

Steam Frame reservation holders can now look up their expected order window on the headset's Steam page, and it gives one of two answers. "Once there, you'll see confirmation that you'll receive your order email either by December, or in 2027," Valve writes. Valve's October 9 post adds that anyone in the 2027 group will get "further (more detailed) information on their expected order timing" by January.

The window is tied to the account rather than published as a list. Valve's instruction is to check it "by going directly to the Steam Frame product page while logged in to your Steam account", so a holder sees their own position and nobody else's, and the more detailed timing promised to the 2027 group arrives the same way.

"By December" is Valve's own phrasing, and it carries both readings: during December, or before it.

Separate queues, and the waitlist does not jump the line

Two holders who signed up on the same day can still see different answers, because the queue is regional. "There are separate queues for each region, so there could be some regions pulling from the waitlist sooner than others," Valve says, before closing off the worry that follows: "Importantly, no one on the waitlist is leapfrogging over anyone currently holding a reservation; we're only dipping into waitlists in a region when we reach the end of its reservation queue." Anyone joining the waitlist now "will be placed at the end in the order they join".

Valve made Steam Machine holders the same promise on July 28, in almost the same words, and the timing it gave them was firmer. That post said "we expect everyone in the reservation queue will have the option to purchase by the end of this year", with reservation queues and waitlists running per product and per region. Part of the Steam Frame queue is being told 2027 instead.

An order email is not a delivery date

What Valve is dating here is the purchase email, not a headset arriving on a doorstep. The email itself works as it did at launch: buyers "must complete your purchase within 72 hours or we will move to the next person in line", the same 72-hour expiry that applied when the first purchase emails went out on September 18.

A place in the queue has had a resale value since the first week. In September, Steam Frame reservations appeared on eBay at $2,000 while Valve's own terms barred any transfer.

Valve used the same post to open up the hardware itself, publishing the CAD files and the electrical interface to the headset's nose-bridge expansion port for non-commercial use.

For the 2027 group the page is a holding message, and Valve has given a date for replacing it rather than a date for the headset: January.
