《Soulframe》详解“Open Preludes”含义及其 Preludes 17 内容

Before we begin, we’ll have to de-mystify some of Soulframe’s vernacular here because Digital Extremes loves to create made-up words from out of nowhere. “Preludes” is basically the term for the game’s pre-alpha, and a Prelude with a number following it is the most recent major build; the MMO does get smaller interstitial updates, but a numbered build is a bigger deal. So then, just what are the Open Preludes that the devs hinted at this past weekend? That’s just what the team is explaining to curious fans.

“Simply put, no more waiting for an invitation!” DE writes. “Once Open Preludes begins, anyone who wants to experience Soulframe on PC can sign up, download the launcher, and begin their journey into Midrath.” A related short livestream further explained that this is not a Steam or console launch and that this does not mean that founder’s pack sales are ending; all it’s doing is effectively removing the code requirement to download the game and test it out.

That same broadcast also gave some more detail about Preludes 17, which will bring in the ability to ride atop the back of your wolf after it matures from a pup, a “ton of new weapons and armor,” new runes, a rework of the Votives world events (more vocab lessons yippee) that promise to involve tangibly clearing Ode’n corruption, a new pact that utilizes “an Ode techy-type kit” with damage buffing abilities, and several quality-of-life features.

The devs promise that dates for both Preludes 17 and the start of Open Preludes will be shared during the game’s next broadcast on Friday, October 30th, at 3:30 p.m. EDT. Until then, the full shorter stream is available below.
