Anthony Koithra's Locodrome Character Animation Tool makes animation in the Unreal Engine easier and faster.
UE5 Filmmaker Anthony Koithra has released the Locodrome Character Animation Tool, or LCAT. The tool is a free editor utility widget that makes animating in-engine with the MetaHuman face and body.
LCAT is a successor to the artist's MetaHuman Animation Tool (MAT), which has been rebuilt from the ground up and includes its functionality along with new bells and whistles. The new tool switches interfaces depending on what kind of Control Rig you select; if you're working with a MetaHuman, it will automatically switch back and forth between the Face and Body.
The tool is also compatible with the UE5 Mannequin skeleton and the CC4 skeleton through Reallusion's custom MetaHuman Control Rig. Apart from this, the tool includes animator-friendly features developed based on feedback and guidance from top Unreal Engine animators, and the support of an Epic Megagrant.
LCAT is now available on FAB, where you can also read the installation instructions, and Gumroad. Koithra generously shares the tool for free; he said that since he became a full-time indie animator, the Unreal Engine community has given him so much, and this is his way of paying it back.
