“After roughly 35 hours with The Blood of Dawnwalker, I can safely say that Rebel Wolves have made an incredibly solid foundation for the future. The world and characters left me wanting more, the leaner runtime largely avoided narrative bloat and even the shakier mechanics brimmed with potential. Said foundation still needs work however, with mostly solid, if unremarkable moment-to-moment gameplay fighting against an unfortunate layer of jank and repetition, along with a time mechanic that never quite lives up to its concept.
For those with the patience to overlook some rather dated gameplay moments, The Blood of Dawnwalker offers glimpses of a masterpiece, and I am very excited to see what Rebel Wolves have in store for us in the future.”
Launching back in early September to positive critical acclaim, The Blood of Dawnwalker was already a great game, but that didn’t stop Rebel Wolves from gathering feedback and continuing to improve things.
Included in the update now planned for next week, players will be able to ‘respec’ their character with a new ‘Draught of the Mind Rebirth’, putting the skills learned into new abilities. You’ll also be able to pet various animals, and there’s new camera and combat improvements. Here’s the highlights –
