Animal Crossing gcNX: the GameCube Animal Crossing, running natively on Nintendo Switch (v1.0.0-beta)

I took a stab at porting Animal Crossing (GameCube) to the Switch to get familiar with the decomp, recomp and the Switch porting process. This is not emulation. The game code comes from the community's complete decompilation (ac-decomp), compiled for the Switch's ARM CPU, with the graphics translated to OpenGL ES. It's built on top of the PC and Android ports.

This release contains no game assets. Requires a USA disc image (GAFE01, ISO/GCM/CISO). Always keep a backup of your save files.

FEATURES
- 60 fps in handheld mode at stock clocks, with dynamic resolution (432p-720p)
- Video settings: Widescreen, 60 fps or locked 30 fps, dynamic resolution on/off (recommend keeping on), max resolution, texture filtering (recommend keeping on)
- PC port options (audio, controls, gameplay tweaks) in a settings menu on the minus button
- Shader cache, so only the first start is slow (about a minute)

REQUIREMENTS
- A Switch running Atmosphère, tested on 22.5
- Your own Animal Crossing (USA) disc image, game ID GAFE01, as .iso, .gcm or .ciso. RVZ/WIA/GCZ/NKit must be converted to ISO in Dolphin first.
- About 1.6 GB free on the SD card
- Title takeover (hold R while starting a game). Album/applet mode doesn't have enough memory.

INSTALL
1. Make a folder under switch/ on your SD card (any name, e.g. switch/AnimalCrossing-gcNX/).
2. Put AnimalCrossing-gcNX.nro and your disc image in that folder.
3. Hold R while starting any game, open the Homebrew Menu and launch Animal Crossing gcNX.

To update, just replace the .nro. Your town is saved in the save/ folder as Dolphin-compatible GCI files, so back it up. A great save editor is at https://github.com/Cuyler36/ACSE/releases if your into that.

NOT SUPPORTED
- HD texture packs. The PC port's texture_pack/ folder is ignored on Switch: it added about 30 s to every start and drew some areas black.
- Other regions and versions (PAL, Japanese, Dobutsu no Mori+/e+)
- The Animal Crossing Deluxe mod
- Album/applet mode

REPORTING BUGS
It's a beta, so bug reports help a lot. Logging is off by default so it doesn't cost performance.
1. Press minus, go to the Gameplay tab, set Enable logging to On and Apply.
2. Reproduce the problem.
3. Open an issue on GitHub and attach stdout.log, stderr.log (and crash.log if there is one) from the gcNX folder. Copy them before launching again.

Invisible objects: if you bump into something you can't see, turn logging on, stand next to the spot and press ZL + ZR + click the left stick. That writes a map of the ground there to stdout.log. Please include roughly where in town it was.

AI DISCLOSURE
The Switch port was developed with the help of Claude (Anthropic's AI coding assistant), under my direction and tested on real hardware. The decompilation and the ports it builds on are the work of their own authors.
