Build a Monstrous Army in Void Eaters

Forget building a typical army. Void Eaters lets you grow an army of bizarre creatures one organ at a time, and it now has a release window. Solo developer Strange Matter Gaming, based in Ukraine, has announced that the incremental game will launch on Steam in February 2027. Players can also try its updated demo during Steam Next Fest, running from October 19 to 26.

In Void Eaters, players take control of a powerful mage who builds increasingly monstrous creatures to consume resources and tear through brick-built environments. Every organ adds new abilities and strategic possibilities, while visual evolution makes your army’s growth more than just a numbers game.

The updated demo features eight resources, more than 20 locations, and over 20 organs, alongside crafting, building, and dark research systems. Players can experiment with different creature builds, gather resources, and bring them back to their stronghold to craft advanced materials and develop even more powerful monsters.

You can also decide how involved you want to be. Unleash devastating magical abilities to influence your army’s progress, or sit back and watch your creatures do the dirty work.

Interestingly, the developer reports that the demo has a median playtime of three hours, with 41% of players spending at least five hours exploring its systems.

With its unusual creature-building mechanics and satisfying incremental progression, Void Eaters could be worth watching for fans of games that reward experimentation. If growing an army of increasingly strange monsters sounds like your kind of fun, the Steam Next Fest demo is a good place to start.
