Ahead of Steam Next Fest, solo developer Rooted Elevation has released a short devlog for its upcoming psychological horror visual novel, Saraab: Beyond The Veil. The video covers the initial concept of the game, its Arabian folklore inspiration, and the creative process behind the game’s development. You can also check out the game’s demo.

Coming to Steam on November 3, Saraab: Beyond The Veil is described as a story of self-discovery and connection, harnessing the supernatural spirits of Arabian mythology to pay homage to the developer’s heritage. The game combines Gulf-inspired folklore with psychological horror to craft an emotional family story, drawing on djinn traditions and tales known across the Gulf and UAE in particular, bringing a less familiar cultural perspective to the visual-novel horror space.

When her younger brother Adam vanishes, Elham “Elly” is pulled into a nightmare she never chose. She discovers that his disappearance is tied to a destiny she can no longer ignore.

Guided by a mysterious being and haunted by the shadow that follows her, Elham must awaken a dormant light within herself. She is forced to face the wounds she has spent a lifetime avoiding. Every encounter, whether with dark entities or pieces of her own psyche, brings her closer to the truth about Adam and about who she really is.
