NXPress
A compressor for your Switch backups in one program, with a window and an nsz-compatible command line

Hi everyone!
NXPress is the compression part of Switch Library Manager Web, split out into its own program:
https://github.com/DeLFuS77/switch-library-manager-web
It does the same compression, decompression and checks, as a standalone tool you can use without the rest of the manager.
It's a single file for Windows, macOS and Linux, with nothing else to install. Open it with no arguments and you get a window: drop files or folders on it, choose what to do and press start. Give it arguments and it works as a command line with the same options as nsz, so it can replace nsz in scripts and other tools.
It's free, open source (AGPL-3.0), and has no ads, accounts or telemetry.
Features
Compress and decompress
- NSP and XCI to NSZ and XCZ, levels 1 to 19, using zstd on every thread
- SuperNSPs with several tickets compress like any other file (nsz fails on those right now)
- Solid (the smallest, works with every installer) or blocks (for emulators that read NSZ, works with every installer except Awoo)
- NSZ to NSP and XCZ to XCI, the same files nsz -D gives
- Recompress an NSZ from solid to blocks or back, or at another level, without going through the NSP and without keys
Save space
- Trim the padding of XCI dumps
- Remove the delta fragments from updates
- Estimate the final size and the time before compressing anything
Organize
- Pack a game with its update and DLC into one SuperNSP, or into its own XCI
- Add a newer update to an existing SuperNSP and it keeps only the newest
- Split a SuperNSP back into the original files, byte for byte
- Convert XCI to NSP
Check
- Verify files against the hashes of their content
- Compare them against a No-Intro DAT
- Details of a file: its titles, how it's stored, and which installers and emulators it works with
Safety first
Every new file is written under a temporary name and checked before it gets its real name. If you choose to delete the originals, each one is deleted only after its new file passed the check.
The window
English and Spanish, light or dark theme. You can drop files on the window or on the program icon, and on Windows you can add it to "Send to" in the Explorer.
About emulators
Block mode is what an emulator needs to run an NSZ without decompressing it. Eden doesn't read NSZ yet (there's a pull request for it that isn't merged), and Ryujinx and Citron don't either. For those you can still decompress to NSP or XCI.
Getting started
Download the file for your system from the releases page (https://github.com/DeLFuS77/NXPress/releases/latest) and run it. On macOS the app isn't notarized, so the first time open it with right click > Open. On Linux it needs GTK 3 and WebKitGTK 4.1, which most desktops already have.
Keys: NXPress needs your own prod.keys, dumped from your own console. Put it next to the program or in ~/.switch, or choose it from the window. No keys are included or shared, and none should be asked for in this thread.
Feedback welcome
I've tested it with DBI. If you try the files with Tinfoil, Awoo, CyberFoil or Sphaira, I'd really like to know how it goes, good or bad. A GitHub issue (https://github.com/DeLFuS77/NXPress/issues) or a reply here are both fine.
Thanks to blawar and nicoboss for nsz and its format. This tool is meant for managing backups of games you own.
