Jagex has officially confirmed the cancellation of Runescape Reignited on October 15, 2026. Mod Ryan gave an update on YouTube clarifying that RS3 players’ feedback was critical in determining the decision to cancel the project.

Runescape Reignited was originally supposed to launch on December 2, 2026, to give brand-new players a fresh economy with their own servers not tainted with microtransactions. However, many RS3 veterans were against the proposal. They were vocal about it on social media, feeling like Reignited diminished their old progress.
RS3 Player Feedback Helped Cancel Runescape Reignited
Mod Ryan confirmed the project’s cancellation on October 15, 2026
In the video, Mod Ryan brought up how divisive Evolution of Combat was over a decade ago as a reason for the cancellation of Runescape Reignited:
“It is super important to us because the last time we didn’t listen to player feedback, combat changed forever. And it has taken us over a decade to recover from that. Now I said on stage that we would not repeat the same mistakes of the past, and I truly stand by that. Considering this, we have made the decision to cancel Reignited.”
Jagex still plans to bring new players to RS3, but their official blog post clarifies that they “missed the mark” with this planned update. Other new content outside of Runescape Reignited will still be released on the December 2, 2026 update.
2. Jagex Releases New RS3 2027 Roadmap
Jagex released a new roadmap for 2027 without Runescape Reignited mentioned
Although Runescape Reignited has been cancelled, RS3 players can still expect the following content for the update that will be released on December 2, 2026:
- 10-Day Free Trial for F2P players to enjoy Member’s content with certain requirements
- Adventure Guide
- The first part of Remastered Journey
Note that OSRS member worlds do not offer the 10-Day Free Trial. Only RS3 offers it from December 2 to 12, 2026. Players will be able to access members worlds if they fulfill one of the following qualifications:
- Brand-new players
- Pre-existing players without membership since June 2, 2026
