Control Resonant has won PlayStation’s Players’ Choice award for September 2026.

The community vote placed Remedy Entertainment’s supernatural action title ahead of a packed field that included Marvel’s Wolverine, Dune: Awakening, NBA 2K27 and Silent Hill: Townfall.

Sony announced the result on October 14 after opening the monthly Players’ Choice poll earlier in October.

Control Resonant Wins Community Vote

Players’ Choice is PlayStation Blog’s monthly community award.

At the end of each month, Sony creates a shortlist of notable releases and asks players to vote for the new game they would most strongly recommend to someone else.

For September, Control Resonant finished on top.

Sony congratulated Remedy Entertainment after confirming the result.

The final ballot included several major releases:

  • Control Resonant, Marvel’s Wolverine, Dune: Awakening and NBA 2K27
  • Silent Hill: Townfall, EA Sports FC 27, NHL 27 and NASCAR 26
  • Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Valheim and The Blood of Dawnwalker
  • Multiple smaller releases including Mewgenics, Well Dweller and Flamecraft

Sony did not publish a full percentage breakdown of the final vote.

September Was a Packed Release Month

Control Resonant faced unusually strong competition.

Marvel’s Wolverine was among the most prominent September releases, while Dune: Awakening brought a major survival experience to the month.

Sports games were also well represented, with NBA 2K27, EA Sports FC 27 and NHL 27 all included in the vote.

Silent Hill: Townfall gave horror fans another major option.

Winning in a month with so many established franchises makes Control Resonant’s Players’ Choice victory especially notable.

The award is community-driven rather than selected by PlayStation editors.

Remedy Returns to the Control Universe

Control Resonant launched on September 24 for PlayStation 5.

The game continues Remedy Entertainment’s supernatural universe but changes the perspective by putting Dylan Faden at the center of the story.

Dylan is the brother of Jesse Faden, the protagonist of the original Control.

This time, Manhattan has been overwhelmed by paranormal forces.

Buildings and streets have been distorted by impossible architecture, while new creatures and phenomena have appeared across the city.

Dune: Awakening Nominee
Silent Hill: Townfall Nominee

The setting gives Resonant a much larger urban environment than the Oldest House that defined the original game.

Combat Remains Central

Remedy has continued to build around the mixture of weapons, movement and supernatural abilities that defined Control.

Telekinetic powers remain an important part of combat, while the sequel expands movement options and encounter scale.

The studio has also highlighted its technical focus on PS5 and PS5 Pro.

Control Resonant offers multiple graphics modes along with DualSense support and 3D audio.

That technical presentation was a major part of the game’s PlayStation marketing before release.

Dylan Faden Takes the Lead

Switching protagonists is one of the biggest changes in Resonant.

Dylan played an important role in the original Control, but the sequel moves him into the central position.

His journey takes place in a Manhattan that has been transformed by a new form of resonance.

Remedy uses that shift to expand the story beyond the Federal Bureau of Control’s headquarters.

The game still retains the mystery-heavy tone associated with the series while moving the action into a much larger setting.

How Players’ Choice Works

Sony allows the community to define what “best” means in the monthly vote.

The question is effectively simple: if players could recommend only one new release from that month, which would they choose?

Re-releases are excluded.

Large-scale remakes can still qualify, provided they represent substantial new versions rather than simple ports.

The nominees themselves are selected by the PlayStation Blog editorial team based on notable releases from the month.

Players then determine the winner through the public vote.

Control Resonant Adds Another Win for Remedy

The Players’ Choice result does not represent an industry award or critical ranking.

It does, however, give a useful snapshot of enthusiasm among the PlayStation community during a crowded release period.

Control Resonant launched alongside several high-profile games and still finished first in the vote.

For Remedy, that provides another positive signal after the studio spent months promoting the sequel’s larger environments, combat systems and technical features.

Assessment

September 2026 offered one of the stronger Players’ Choice ballots of the year.

Control Resonant had to compete against Marvel’s Wolverine, Dune: Awakening, Silent Hill: Townfall and several major sports releases.

Its victory therefore stands out.

The result suggests that Remedy’s return to the Control universe connected strongly with PlayStation players, particularly despite the decision to move away from Jesse Faden as the main protagonist.

With Dylan taking the lead and Manhattan replacing the Oldest House as the primary setting, Resonant represents a significant expansion of the series.

For September’s PlayStation community vote, that was enough to put it ahead of the competition.
