The Saros: Zenith update contains plenty to get stuck into. We’ve got New Game + mode that sees players enter the ‘Eclipse Layers’, sending you back into Carcosa for what the developers describes as a “more intense version of the game with altered rules, including a minimum threshold of Trial Modifiers.”

There’s a lot of new modifiers to choose from to increase the challenge, and Horsemarque have added a way for players to show off how tough they’re making things, with Arjun wearing a crown and glowing gold armour. The more challenge undertaken with Trial modifiers, the bigger and more splendid the crown.

They’ve also added new modes like Overlord Rush, which is effectively a boss-rush experience, complete with leaderboards.
“Saros is a ton of fun to play, especially if you prefer a character leveling system to a ‘git gud learning patterns’ one. It is stunning to look at and has an excellent soundtrack. An emphasis on its weak story wastes some solid acting performances and an incredible art style. By the end of my 14 hours, I felt a tinge of disappointment at how close Saros was to being incredible.”
Writing on the PlayStation blog, Saros: Zenith Design Lead Abebe Tinari at Housemarque spoke a little at what the goals were for this free update. “We had two main goals for this update: add replayability for existing players who had already plumbed the depth of Carcosa, and make the game more accessible so Saros even more people can discover the addictive, explosive, exhilarating bullet ballet gameplay that made Saros one of the highest rated action games of 2026.“
If you found it all a little too challenging, the update also brings new accessibility features, including the ability to slow down projectiles, and even enabling auto-fire.
