RetroStyle Games has officially announced its Flame and Blame game, which is scheduled for a 2027 launch. Co-op comedy games have become increasingly popular with titles like Sea of Thieves, Overcooked 2, Lethal Company, and Portal 2. Now RetroStyle Games is getting in on the co-op comedy gaming act with Flame and Blame.

Firefighters put out a sofa fire in Flame and Blame

This independent video game development studio continues to develop games under difficult circumstances in Kyiv, throughout the ongoing war in Ukraine. It operates under the regular threat of missile and drone strikes. In September 2026, one missile strike landed right next to a RetroStyle Games office. Fortunately, all staff survived the attack, and RetroStyle continues its operations.

RetroStyle Games first showcased the Flame and Blame game at the Ukrainian Games Festival 2026. Now the Ukrainian game studio has announced Flame and Blame with an official trailer. Flame and Blame is all about daft firefighters in a town where fires are commonplace.

In Flame and Blame, players play clumsy firefighters who have to deal with fires, live wires, gas, and even flaming tornadoes. It is a comical four-player co-op game in which you must rescue civilians, pets, and plants from the fires. This is a game in which hoses have recoil and water can almost do as much damage as the fires.

A flower to save in a burning room

Comedy is at the heart of Flame and Blame. The RetroStyle design team said this about Flame and Blame: “Last Pirates taught us that in co-op, the funniest moments come from your own teammates. With Flame and Blame we took that idea into a burning building: the fire is dangerous, but your own crew is the real hazard.”

3. Join the Flame and Blame Playtest

A playtest for Flame and Blame will start in December 2026. That playtest will give players a chance to try Flame and Blame before the finished game is released in 2027. You can participate in that playtest by registering on Steam and clicking Request Access on this Flame and Blame game page.

RetroStyle Games has not confirmed a specific 2027 release date or pricing details for Flame and Blame. However, Flame and Blame is already on more than 11,000 Steam game wishlists, placing it in the top 4,000 most wished-for games on Valve’s gaming platform. It looks like a blazing firefighter co-op game that could be a lot of fun.
