When Mass Effect Legendary Edition came out, Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer wasn’t part of it. However, modder ‘PayDay’ has released a mod that aims to faithfully bring it back. So, let’s take a closer look at it.

The mod adds all 66 playable characters, all 19 maps, and four enemy groups. These are Cerberus, Geth, Reapers, and Collectors. Players can take on seven types of mission goals and choose from four difficulty levels. These are Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition Multiplayer also brings back the store, reward packs, unlocks, promo items, and weapon mods. Players can take on challenges, earn event banners, and track their N7 Rating and Challenge Points on the leaderboards. Special events, such as N7 Day and Halloween, return each year on their original dates.

Players can chat by text or voice during matches. Text chat works by pressing T, while voice chat offers Push To Talk and Always On modes. Players can hold Tab to talk, mute others in the lobby, and choose when to turn on their mic. The mod also adds a vote-to-kick system for lobbies and matches. At least three players must be in a game for a kick vote to work. In public matches, players who stay idle for two minutes are removed after a warning.

The mod supports every text language in the game. It also lets characters and the announcer speak German, French, or Italian when players choose one of these voice languages. To improve the look of the game, the mod uses sharper textures from the Legendary Edition where possible. Furthermore, it upscales textures that only appeared in the 2012 version. This helps maps and characters look clear and fit in with the rest of the game.
