As part of a post today, AMD has confirmed that FSR 4.1 upscaling will be coming to Xbox Series consoles.
Only on Xbox?
After Sony announced QSSR upscaling coming to their base PS5 console, Xbox and AMD have teamed up to announce that FSR 4.1 will be coming to Xbox Series X & S and the Xbox Ally and Ally X gaming handhelds.
“At XBOX, we’re building a gaming platform designed to meet players where they are and make it easier for creators to reach them. AMD has been an important partner in that journey for more than two decades. Together, our teams have been pushing gaming forward across XBOX and Windows, from the silicon at the heart of our consoles and handhelds, to technologies like DirectX, Advanced Shader Delivery, and AutoSR that helps developers get more from the hardware and deliver better experiences for our player”
The announcement was part of a blog post detailing the advantages of FSR 4.1 + frame gen vs. FSR 3.1. It is not clear if frame generation will be a thing on consoles, where a 60fps target is the upper limit for most modern AAA titles.
What also remains unclear is the timing on when AMD’s FSR 4.1 will hit Xbox’s consoles or ASUS’ handheld. Xbox’s Scott Van Vliet simply said “soon” in the below video.
