Two Candles, One Bright Idea
The objective in Candlemates is to push fire stones onto their matching braziers, but getting everything into place takes some thought. Players can switch between the two candles, using their positions to open routes and move objects around the environment.
There’s a catch, though. Each candle has a limited number of moves, so wasting steps can leave a puzzle in an awkward position. The inactive candle stays put, but it can also be pushed like any other object, adding another layer to the planning. Every move matters, and working out the right sequence is just as important as reaching the goal.
Think Before You Burn Through Your Moves
As the puzzles progress, pressure plates, stone barriers and other obstacles introduce new complications. You’ll need to coordinate both candles carefully, work out how objects interact and avoid trapping yourself with no useful moves remaining.
Fortunately, Undo and Restart options let you experiment with different solutions without having to live with every mistake. That makes trial and error part of the process, encouraging players to rethink a route when their original plan goes up in smoke.
Candlemates is available now on Xbox Series X|S (optimised), Xbox One and Windows PC, with each version costing £4.19. If you enjoy puzzle games that reward forward planning over quick reactions, this little candle-powered challenge could be worth lighting up.
