Sony may now be facing another challenge after all the trouble that it has had this year.
Dataminer KeplerL2 claims that the costs of the PlayStation 6’s RAM and storage are now higher than $ 680. As he explained it, these memory components were originally far below that price, when Sony decided on what components to use.
That raises speculation on the final retail price the PS6 will carry. Sony has raised prices on the PS5 SKU from a minimum of $ 600 to a staggering $ 900.
And outside of Sony, retailers have raised prices of used PS5s even higher, to as much as an astonishing $ 1500. It appears this has happened because these used PS5s with older firmwares on them can be easily jailbroken, unlocking their power to do things like even running LLMs.
KeplerL2 has also shared rumors about when Sony will announce the PS6, its power and pricing. But this latest rumor might change those plans.
