Immersive, disco-punk, space horror where you can be a sneaky chap or a mutant action hero as you try to survive on a space station swallowed by a black hole. A mind-bending ride with weird creatures, immersive features, time jumps, and '70s mustaches!

  • Play Your Way – Sneak, hack, create diversions, lure enemies into traps, discover hidden routes, or fight your way through Aurora 5. Every obstacle has multiple solutions.
  • A True Immersive Sim – Manipulate interconnected systems, exploit environmental hazards, turn security against your enemies, and solve problems creatively.
  • Mutamods™ – Unlock powerful mutations that enhance stealth, combat, exploration, and mobility. Beware - every upgrade may come with unexpected side effects.
  • Explore Aurora 5 – Navigate a massive interconnected space station filled with secrets, shortcuts, alternate paths, and hidden areas.
  • Death, Cloning & Consequences – Death is not the end. Clone yourself, recover your lost gear, and deal with the consequences of repeated resurrection.
  • Disco-Punk Space Horror – Experience a unique blend of retro-futurism, cosmic horror, dark humor, and narrative-driven exploration.
  • Reactive Gameplay – Learn enemy behaviours, adapt your strategy, and use the station's systems to gain the upper hand

Been looking forward to this. The demo was great and the system shock vibes are on point.

ohh, this looks cool, i had never heard of it. will keep an eye out for impressions!

Thanks for the heads-up!

I'm keeping my eye on this to see what the general response is. The claims are pretty lofty. I have to assume it's not at the scale of something like Prey, but far more ambitious than something like Skin Deep. But the thing is, both of those examples excel at their scales. It's possible this tries to be something it can't quite hit and be disappointing.

Yup this is def on my Watch list.

Price looks great w/ -10% launch discount & additional 10% on top w/ some im/sim bundles if you already own System Shock 2, Void Bastards, etc.

RafikiX

Reviews on steam are good so far, there is only 4 right now.

Triggerhappytel

This looks cool. Have added it to my wishlist and will have to watch some more in-depth footage later!

Rhaknar

looks cool, tempted to use the launch discount.

NGL tho, I was looking for a thread on this game when I saw it launched on twitter, and I had seen this thread earlier and completely ignored it because of the way you phrased it, it looked like Immersive Sim was part of the title and I dismissed it as some shoverware slop like you see a million of on the e-shop or something with similar names >_>

Ugh, delayed on Switch 2 at the last minute. Will wait. Hopefully it won't disappear like Cultic or Unbeatable did.

Rhaknar

anyone grabbed the console version and can say if its 60? I mean, there's no reason it wouldnt be but you never know these days (I'm looking at you Fatal Frame 2)

ALowTierHero

I'd like to pick this up but it was rough on Steam Deck. Waiting for any impressions for the full game.

Some good, in-depth impressions from a Reddit user in case anyone's interested.

This review says it "rarely holds 60fps" on PS5.
But even so, it is an im-sim on modern consoles made by a team of 6... kind of a miracle. Gonna check out some footage, but tempted to grab it just to support.

well at least it seems to target 60 / is uncapped, so maybe the Pro can horsepower through it.

I didn't love the demo. Didn't feel like it had enough options to really get through the level and I found the combat frustrating. But still gonna keep on eye on the reviews, always love getting more indie immersive sims.

chrominance

The Reddit impressions give me some food for thought.

Maybe it's just me but when I think "immersive sim," I don't think "has to be extremely hard or else it's not a Real Man(tm)'s Immersive Sim," but this game seems to lean into that sort of thing with the stacking death penalties. Your options to avoid this being "play on BABY mode you BABY" or "just Alt-F4 the game before you die" aren't terrible but also tell me this is not the intended way to play, so I dunno. Maybe not a game for me, but that's okay.

(Also, I am well aware that it's funny to be saying this just as a new Fire Emblem comes out, where "just reset your console when you die" is basically the way half the audience plays because they want to have permadeath and eat their cake too! So maybe it's not as bad as it sounds here.)

Found a couple of PS5 gameplay vids on YT, and it's definitely close to a consistent 60fps. YMMV if you're sensitive to performance, but Prey is still locked 30 on PS5 and that's still incredible.

It's almost an overly descriptive name, like literally retro aesthetics and a space game.

DuckSauce

Bought as soon as I woke up this morning and saw the Steam email. So dang excited, I absolutely love the aesthetic and can't wait to sink my teeth into this!

As if there wasn't enough reasons to hate Microsoft right now, them neglecting the PS4 versions of Prey and Dishonored 2 specifically and leaving them at 30fps while updating other versions, is plenty reason enough alone for me to despise them forever.

I need for impressions on this one. It certainly calls out to me, but I need opinions on level design from fellow im-sim heads, which is a crucial part of these games to me.

Played an hour or so of this today. Really enjoying it!

I died in the opening room in under a minute, if this gives you an indication of the level of imsim we're dealing with here. It gets right into it.

Positives:

  • The first few levels really impressed! They're interesting, dense, and rewarding, while showing an understanding of what makes imsims work.
  • They dole out the tools fast. At an hour in and I have a few good weapons and interesting gear.
  • The first "real" level is pretty awesome. It reminds me of Palisade Property Bank in Deus Ex Mankind Divided, which is one of the best levels in any imsim.
  • The systems overlap in fun ways. Want to turn the lights off an go batman style? Want to hack the turrets? Want to setup a trap and lure them in being electrocuted? Want to sneak by? All are viable.
  • The combat feels like the OG Deus Ex, which is a plus here. I'm sniping with a pistol nearly a block away.
  • There is a mini-map! It's actually helpful and prevents constantly pulling up a dedicated UI.
  • When you die you respawn with a genetic anomaly which can be fixed by finding your dead body. Died three times and saw a few, they're awesome, and they stack. I am scared and excited to see the others. Very clever.
  • While it feels like Deus Ex, System Shock, Prey, and Bioshock had a baby, there are fun and unique ideas here, like being a janitor with the ability to scrub away the blood stains. I realized the bathrooms had free water for my spray gun and it was like robbing a vault.
  • There are actually fun mini-games. Hacking for example has a different take and I love it.
  • If you like silly humor, then you'll enjoy the tone. It doesn't take itself seriously, which is refreshing for this genre.

Negatives:

  • Controls (on PS5) are physics floaty and delayed. Feels swimmy.
  • Framerate doesn't seem good. Unsure if it's the above as a contributor, but I was getting ill and needed to take a break. Wish there was an option to turn off the post processing, as I'd rather have frames than fancy reflections.
  • While you can reference old audio messages, you have to listen to them in the menu, can't have them play when you leave, and there is no text shown of their contents until they say it. So, if someone has a code at the end, you're hearing it all again.
  • The environmental effects like fire and electricity are particles, but their hit boxes seem larger. This can cause accidental hits.
  • There doesn't seem to be save slots. I believe you get one game save and one autosave, likely to prevent save scumming and force the use of the genetic anamolies. But that took some getting used to.

It's been a long time since I've played an imsim that rewarded curiosity. Each time I asked "Can I do that?" in RetroSpace, the answer was "Yes!", which is refreshing!

AstralSphere

Playing on PS5 Pro, and I feel like it needs a couple of patches before I can really recommend it.

There is a constant hitching every second when you move which is nausea-inducing, even with VRR. The deadzone setting seems to be set at a flat 0, which is a real issue if you have even a slightly drifting dualsense. No ability to customise control layout at all is a bummer too.

Tutorials appear via an unvoiced pop-up on the upper left of the screen, and by the time I've even realised they are there they disappear ahout three seconds later. I haven't managed to successfully read a single one in full yet, and there's no archive to read them after the fact. That might be an issue that needs addressing pretty quickly in a mechanics-heavy imsim game.

Edit: I died and had to do a restart, and now the hitching has stopped. So I'm not sure what's going on there. That's a new one for me on console.

Bought this a while back, just started it. Thus far really impressive game and one of the first one of these little indie imsims I've played that really gets the physics funhouse aspect down. Not very far but it's super fun for the hour and a half or so I've played; can't wait to dig in more later.

1. You can enable free auto saves if you want to save scum on any difficulty, from what I can tell. Use that if systemic death mechanics in a *reads note* imsim seems too much for you.

2. ....you can buy your way out of the negative effects at the autodoc.

Idk that's explained pretty clearly and pretty early on so I'm not sure what's up with your weird tangent about the game being a poo poo head about it.

You can reference all the tool tips you've seen in the codex from the tablet thing you get.
