You can preload the client already by manually triggering the install via run command. Win + R
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.net\Battle.net.exe" --game=wow_classic_beta --install
Is the beta free?
yes if you opt-in and manage to get a code, no game time required either

Excited to dive in later today. Expecting a lot of bugs if my time in Midnight and other Betas are anything to go by.
For those who are new to WoW Betas, don't expect this to be super polished also just understand that nothing carries over to the full release. This is a beta to test and give feedback and allow Blizzard to fix and improve the game before the official launch. Expect bugs and things not working correctly. With maybe a lot of crashing or server restarts for hotfixes in between.
Will be making a Undead Paladin, and a Tauren Shaman at least to start out on beta and will do it with the full release. Probably in PVP like usual.

you can opt in for a chance to get in the beta for no cost. The premium versions of Forever just guarantees your entry
Did they even say everyone gets beta access immediately?
They usually do waves or not?
Most interested in seeing how Forever will tackle mob respawns with the megaserver and huge player count. Are they going to go crazy on sharding or make the respawns faster to compensate?
Most Classic launches were unbearable for me with how many people were just sitting around waiting to instant tag quest mobs or camping quest item spawns.

Aw shit, I guess that if this post is up it means that I didn't get into the beta since I didn't get a code. 
Oof, looks like the weird looking skeleton rigging is just how it is...
Skeletons are shared between new and old models for Forever is a bit disappointing.

Decided I'm going to test a Hunter first, but going to try and test as much as I can in the beta.
Locked to your Ruleset (PVP, Normal, RP, Hardcore) without a server transfer. Also PVP BG's will be able to meet other Ruleset players.

Rogues have combo points. No healing or tanking though. Paladin or Druid if you wanna be able to multi role.

If you want the option between Tank, Healer, and DPS. It would probably be Paladin or Druid unless Blizz really pushes an Enhancement Shaman Tank like Vanilla tried for a small time early on (since Horde had one less Tank option until they got Paladin with Belfs in TBC).

Love the look of the undead paladin. Love the idea of a former paladin coming back to life, and still making the choice to be a paladin. Not sure I'd play one in classic though. Not the same class as it is in retail, or even after BC.

That reminds me. What is the respec cost in Forever? Because it was HEFTY back in vanilla. To the point where sometimes our offtanks just stayed in their DPS but replaced a weapon with a shield.

They did mention an item during blizzcon that would let Shamans tank but don't quote me
They're giving all the right answers to these questions.
Going undead Priest on release, but gonna try out UD Paladin and skyborne druid in beta.
They have made some major, major changes to paladin talents and itemization in Forever though, it's not the same class.
Is it closer to the paladin in Wrath? I played a blood elf paladin in BC, but the only really viable spec was healing. The others were still undercooked. In wrath retribution really took off and protection was better, but with a weird taunt.
All the answers so far have been pretty great.
