I'm not necessarily interested in stirring up drama if there is any, but I am curious about whether something happened that would explain why he did it. I know that he's had issues with the Wii community in the past (as well as controversies related to his maintenance of RC24) but I'd appreciated most of his contributions to the scene since those were settled.

This is definitely a recent development, as I was searching for something in his post history sometime either last night or the night before. As far as I'm aware though there isn't any way to search for a deleted user's posts, so I can't necessarily find where he might have mentioned his reasoning.
