Some of the games George has extensively covered first-hand include Dead Rising, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Ninja Gaiden 4.
Some of the more annoying elements of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, like its camera, fast travel system, and saving, have already been improved by players.
As I made clear in my review, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is easily one of my favourite games of 2026, and a stellar comeback for a long-dormant franchise. It manages to both respect the specific vibe that the exploration Castlevania games became so well known for, while also pushing the formula in a new direction.
That being said, Belmont’s Curse isn’t a perfect game, since it has its fair share of issues that Castlevania fans have been quick to highlight. The zoomed-out camera, annoying fast travel mechanic, and lack of a quick save are some of the main bugbears for players, so much so that mods have already been made to address them.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Mods Are Already A Godsend
No More Schlepping It Back To Mirrors Of Life
Even though Belmont’s Curse has only been out for literally two days, there are already tons of player-created mods over on Nexus Mods. While some of them are pretty standard fare, like recolours for Rose, performance improvements, and some graphical changes, a few stand out for directly fixing some of the game’s more annoying elements.
One such mod comes from Nexus Mods user ristiisa, and it lets the player adjust how zoomed in the camera is. By default, Belmont’s Curse has the camera incredibly zoomed out, which makes it hard to appreciate the character models and finer details, so it’s nice to already have a mod that fixes that.
Another great mod is “Belmont Fast Travel” from toxicgtr, which tweaks the frustrating fast-travel mechanic by letting you instantly travel from Mirrors of Life instead of having to go through the Hall of Mirrors. It’s a simple change, but one that cuts down on a lot of time-wasting. There are even mods that let you fast travel from anywhere, if that’s more your speed.
Speaking of Mirrors of Life, my favourite mod of the bunch that makes me wish I was playing on PC is JoaquinGM's aptly titled “QuickSave - F5 Save Anywhere”, which does what it says on the tin. While that does mess with the game design a little more than the other mods, it also prevents having to run around trying to find a save point before calling it quits.
Considering how fresh Belmont’s Curse is, it’s impressive to see so many actually helpful mods out there so soon. Players have already made some notable improvements to the game, so I won’t be surprised if there are even more great mods in Belmont’s Curse’s future.
