A Dark Journey Awaits in project;VIRAI: DOOMER’s LIFE ESCAPE

Beep Japan, RIKANIMATION, and independent developer boddiul have revealed a new story trailer for project;VIRAI: DOOMER’s LIFE ESCAPE during The MIX Fall Showcase 2026. Alongside the trailer, the developers have also released a new playable demo on Steam, giving players an early look at its psychological narrative.

The game follows Hicha, a hikikomori girl struggling with depression who spends most of her time inside her apartment. Her only real escape from reality is VITA, a virtual reality platform featuring her beloved virtual idol, VIRAI. However, when she suddenly loses the one thing that gives her life meaning, Hicha must confront the world she has spent so long avoiding.

In project;VIRAI, players experience Hicha’s daily life through a psychological life simulator where every decision can influence her mental state and shape her future. The game features 10 different endings, with player choices determining whether Hicha finds hope, acceptance, or something much darker.

The title also stands out for its mixed-media presentation, combining pixel art, anime illustrations, 3D exploration, visual novel storytelling, and dream sequences. The newly released demo includes improved animations, an updated user interface, bug fixes, and additional language support, including Japanese.

Following its appearance at The MIX Fall Showcase 2026, the game will also participate in The MIX Steam Sale, running from October 17 to 24, 2026.

With its focus on mental health, difficult personal choices, and multiple possible outcomes, project;VIRAI: DOOMER’s LIFE ESCAPE looks like an intriguing experience for fans of psychological narrative games.
