NBA 2K27 Season 2 launches on October 16, bringing a fresh wave of content and improvements across its major game modes. Season 2 introduces GOAT Builds inspired by some of basketball’s biggest legends, welcomes players back to the iconic Sunset Beach location, and adds new rewards for MyTEAM, The City, and competitive Crew play. The update also brings a refreshed soundtrack, spooky-themed premium rewards, and gameplay adjustments designed to improve the overall experience on the court.
Ahead of the new season, Patch 2.0 is already live and introduces several important fixes and expands MyCAREER Eras with the ability to play through a continuous 25-year career across multiple eras. NBA 2K27 will also arrive on the Windows PC Store on October 16, giving players another way to purchase the game.
In our NBA 2K27 review, we praised the improved on-court gameplay and MyCAREER Eras, while noting that VC and microtransactions remain frustrating. Check out the full review for our thoughts on the game before jumping into the new season.
GOAT Builds Bring NBA Legends to the Court
One of the biggest additions in NBA 2K27 Season 2 is GOAT Builds, a new feature that lets players take control of builds inspired by legendary NBA players. These builds exceed the standard physical and attribute caps found in the MyPLAYER Builder, allowing for player experiences that go beyond the usual customization limitations.
To preserve each legend’s authentic playing style, GOAT Builds feature locked animations and attributes modeled around the players who inspired them. However, players will still have access to Badges, Cap Breakers, and other progression features, giving them additional ways to develop their characters while maintaining the unique feel of each build.
The launch lineup includes Klay Thompson, Carmelo Anthony, Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, and more. Players looking to expand their collection won’t have to rely solely on the initial selection, as additional GOAT Builds can be earned by progressing through REP and completing Lifetime Challenges.
The City Welcomes Back Sunset Beach
Fans who remember NBA 2K17 will have an opportunity to revisit one of the game’s most recognizable locations when Sunset Beach returns to The City in remastered form. The coastal destination brings back its iconic scenery, including the volcano view and giant fish tank, offering a nostalgic experience for longtime fans while providing another location to explore.
Season 2 also gives players more opportunities to earn XP across The City, MyCAREER, and MyTEAM as they work toward Level 40. The rewards track includes a range of unlockables designed to encourage players to spend time across multiple modes, with notable milestones arriving at Levels 18, 20, 33, and 39.
Players can unlock a 4-Person Golf Cart at Level 18, followed by Boomer, the Indiana Pacers mascot, at Level 20. Those who continue progressing will earn the Dirk Nowitzki GOAT Build at Level 33, while Level 39 offers the Clown Costume: Ankle Taker. Additional rewards are available throughout the season, giving players plenty of reasons to keep working toward the final milestone.
Crew Divisions Receive New Progression Bonuses
Crew Divisions are also getting a boost for Season 2, with Double Crew XP applied to the rewards track and a 25% REP boost available for all Crew Divisions games. These bonuses should help crews make faster progress while giving players additional incentives to compete together throughout the season.
Crew HQ has also been updated to feature REC-level difficulty, while the Squad Showdown Kiosk retains its competitive sliders for private matches. The changes provide different experiences for players looking to compete with their crews, whether they’re interested in progression or more competitive matchups.
MyTEAM Introduces New Cards and Premier Exchange Rewards

MyTEAM players can look forward to a new selection of rewards, through the Premier Exchange, which allows players to trade cards from their collections for exclusive roster upgrades. The feature gives players another way to put their existing cards to use while working toward new additions for their lineups.
One of the featured rewards is Pixel Cut Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a legendary center whose defensive achievements include 11 NBA All-Defensive Team selections and four NBA Blocks Leader titles. His inclusion provides another notable name for players looking to strengthen their MyTEAM rosters.
Season 2’s main progression track begins with a Level 1 Diamond Jason Kidd and culminates at Level 40 with Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns. Players will have a range of rewards to pursue along the way, making continued progression an important part of building their ideal lineup.
Season 2 Pro Pass Brings Spooky-Themed Rewards
The Season 2 Pro Pass and Hall of Fame Pass introduce another collection of premium content, with the Pro Pass offering 40 additional levels of spooky-themed rewards. The lineup mixes player cards, cosmetic items, and mascot content, giving players several different types of unlockables to pursue as they progress.
Automatic rewards include a Jack-O’-Lantern Scarecrow Costume, Headhunter Mask, 94 OVR Pascal Siakam, and a Pro Pass Pack. Players who work through the premium reward track can also unlock Jack-O’-Lantern Facepaint at Level 3, Sir C.C., the Cleveland Cavaliers mascot, at Level 12, and the Fire Face Body Mod at Level 18.
Further along the track, G-Wiz, the Washington Wizards mascot, becomes available at Level 30. The final Level 40 highlight is Pro Pass Pixel Cut Karl-Anthony Towns, giving players another opportunity to add a special version of Towns to their collection.

2K Beats Adds New Music and Special Celebrations
The 2K Beats soundtrack is receiving a substantial refresh for Season 2, with new tracks from BLACKPINK, BossMan Dlow, Linkin Park, and several other artists. The update introduces five new mixes, expanding the game’s musical selection with a variety of artists and styles.
One of the highlights is a mix curated by Tyrese Haliburton featuring Gunna, Meek Mill, and additional artists. The soundtrack update also celebrates the 30th anniversary of Space Jam, shines a spotlight on French artists, and introduces ten new tracks inspired by Rucker Park.
For players who want to enjoy the music outside the game, every NBA 2K27 track is available on Spotify and Apple Music. The expanded soundtrack provides another layer of fresh content to accompany the launch of Season 2.
Patch 2.0 Fixes Gameplay Issues and Expands MyCAREER Eras
Patch 2.0 is already live ahead of Season 2 and brings major updates across Gameplay, MyTEAM, Crew HQ, and MyCAREER Eras. Among the most notable improvements are fixes for ghost contests on shots, along with adjustments to steal animations and penalties. These changes target some of the gameplay issues that can affect the consistency and balance of matches.
MyCAREER Eras is also receiving a significant expansion, allowing players to experience a continuous 25-year career across multiple eras. The change offers a longer career journey for players who want to follow their basketball legacy through different periods of the sport, adding another reason to revisit the mode.
Players interested in the full list of adjustments can read the official NBA 2K27 Patch 2.0 notes, which detail the changes introduced with the update.
NBA 2K27 Arrives on the Windows PC Store October 16
Another major announcement accompanying Season 2 is NBA 2K27’s arrival on the Windows PC Store on October 16. The release gives PC players another storefront option while introducing a digital ownership offer for players who purchase the game on either XBOX or Windows PC.
Players who purchase any digital edition of NBA 2K27 on XBOX will receive a digital copy for Windows PC. Likewise, those who purchase the game digitally through the Windows PC Store will receive the XBOX digital copy as well. This offer provides additional flexibility for players who use both platforms.
NBA 2K27 Season 2 Launches October 16

With the return of Sunset Beach, the introduction of GOAT Builds, new MyTEAM cards, and a fresh lineup of seasonal rewards, NBA 2K27 Season 2 brings a substantial amount of content for players across the game’s major modes. The combination of nostalgic locations, legendary player builds, and new progression opportunities gives returning players plenty of reasons to jump back in.
Patch 2.0 also addresses important gameplay issues while expanding MyCAREER Eras, making the new season about more than just cosmetic rewards and additional cards.
