Housemarque has just revealed a new Saros: Zenith update with new accessibility and replayability options. Although highly rated, the Saros game has not been a huge hit on the PlayStation 5 since its April 2026 launch. Now Housemarque has rolled out the Zenith update to boost Saros by addressing some of its shortcomings.

1. About the Saros Game

Saros is a third-person sci-fi shooter for the PlayStation 5, which is a spiritual successor to Returnal. This is a game in which players explore a hostile alien world colonized by the Soltari corporation. Players control Arjun Devraj, a protagonist looking for his wife after the off-world colony mysteriously vanishes under a solar eclipse.

This game features fast and fluid bullet-hell action. Players can play through the game by triggering a solar eclipse mechanic that changes the world by altering biomes and enhancing enemies. With an aggregated Metascore of 87, players rate the Saros game highly.

2. The Saros: Zenith Announcement

Yet, the Saros game still has a few shortcomings. Some players have found the game to be too intimidating and chaotic. A lack of end-game content is another of the Saros game’s shortcomings. To address those flaws, Housemarque has announced a new Zenith update for Saros.

The Zenith update introduces a slow game speed gameplay mechanic to enhance accessibility. That setting slows the game speed down when players enable it. Players can configure how much the game slows down to make it a bit easier.

Auto-fire is another new accessibility option the update introduces. That setting enables automatic weapon firing at targeted hostiles. Thus, it makes combat easier by removing a button to press.

To address the lack of end-game content, the Zenith update adds a New Game + Eclipse Layers mode. That mode enables veterans to take on increasingly brutal versions of the game world with altered rules post-completion.

Players can also play Overlord Rush mode, which the Zenith update adds to the Saros game. That intense training simulation is like a gauntlet where players can fight back-to-back bosses with preferred weapon loadouts. It incorporates global leaderboards for some classic arcade-style high-score competition.
