Video games are getting expensive. If you can find a way to get them for less, then you should grab that opportunity with both hands. Especially if that opportunity requires you to buy a 20 cent banana to get $20 off a first-party Nintendo game the day it’s released.

Spend 20 Cents, Save $20

As highlighted by the always reliable Wario64, that’s exactly the opportunity that awaits you at Walmart right now. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort was released today and, due to the additional $10 Nintendo now applies to physical copies of its first-party Switch 2 games, the non-digital version costs $60, or $59.88 at Walmart, to be exact.

Certain retailers have been bypassing Nintendo’s $10 physical tax and selling games for their lower digital prices. Walmart has gone one step further and knocked a full $20 off the price of Switch Sports Resort, a full $10 less than the digital MSRP when bought directly from Nintendo. The only catch is you need to buy a banana with it.

How To Make The Banana Method Work For You

Okay, that’s not the only catch, but it is the main one. There are a couple of other hoops through which you need to jump to get $20 off your shiny new copy of Switch Sports Resort. Once both the game and the banana are in your virtual cart, you will need to enter one of the codes below at checkout for the discount to be applied.

• SAVE3X
• FAST30
• TRIPLE10
• DOUBLE10

The only other catch is that the codes can only be applied to orders that are being picked up in store. If you need your game and its banana companion to be delivered, then sorry, you’re going to have to pay full price for both the game and the banana.

If you feel like you’ve heard this one before, that’s because you probably have. Last month, the banana method was born when Wario64 discovered you could use the same combination of code, game, and fruit to get Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave for a discounted price. Odd that it only seems to be Switch 2 games, and even though it has now happened twice, I’d take advantage of the odd offer before it’s likely rectified later today.

Some of you have clearly already been playing Switch Sports Resort, as within hours of its release, a player discovered that its archery courses have hidden objects, just like they did in Wii Sports Resort. After seeing them find the apple in the first range, I did a little digging and discovered that there are hidden targets in every archery course.
