Microsoft announced last month that it will let anyone access Xbox Cloud Gaming in November, without the need to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass. The new pay-as-you-go model will require players to purchase bundles of cloud hours, and now Microsoft is revealing today that bundles will start at $3.99 for 10 hours of cloud playtime.
- 10 hours for $3.99
- 25 hours for $7.99
- 50 hours for $11.99
All of these cloud hours will include ad-free cloud gaming, shorter wait times, and higher-quality streaming. These aren't monthly bundles of hours either, so once you purchased a pack it remains available until the hours are used.

These are introductory launch prices for insiders so they COULD go up but i doubt they will. If its like the family plan test if you participate there's a chance they'll throw some bonus your way for participating in the preview.
Hours dont expire. Thank you, generous overlords
seems like Microsoft has won the cheapest way to play GTA6 at release by a long shot
$24 for 100 hours of play. Should be plenty enough time to beat the campaign
nvm i didnt realize you had to have a console to stream gta6 lmao

No...no, I don't think I'm willing to pay that, lol.
GeForce Now in comparison i believe has a day pass starting at $4.
Are people really interested in playing games like that? That's seems like over complicating the process of just playing games
Not bad. Do you still need GP core to play online?

Don't you still need to buy it?
Just to be clear, this is for games you actually purchased/own?

Or for playing Game Pass games past the hour limit they have.

Yes.

And owning the game on console, don't forget about that. There's no GTA streaming outside of console.
Pricing seems alright.
But... If they don't market their service it'll be useless anyway.
So in theory:
-person buys game
-person then buys cloud time
-person then can use up all cloud hours no matter how long it takes to get there
Don't you still need to buy it?
Is the game even confirmed for the Xbox cloud?
Does this align with any of the rumors that were posted here? I'm still curious about what Slayven posted about an "online only" service being $11/mo. ($132 per year) because there will definitely be a domino effect where that $135/yr. PS+ plan vanishes. Seems like a good time to gradually let any existing memberships lapse, because the pricing in 2027 will be a hellscape.

How? You still need a Xbox Series X or S to stream it. They confirmed it will not be streamable on cloud off of the hardware. You would need to buy the Xbox, the game and then pay for hours in your scenario.

The fortune article mentioned game pass getting a la carted soon
lmao... pay per hour... WTF are we doing here?
All that for Series S blades and performances miles behind the competition even still. Good luck with that.

oh really? well that sucks
i thought you could stream it on other devices, i didnt realize you need a console to stream it
whats the point then

Prophet of Truth - One Winged Slayer
That's not terrible all things considered
Just to clarify, do you need to have a Game Pass subscription and also buy cloud time additionally? Or can you just buy the time without a sub?

i didnt realize that. this is pointless for gta6 then lol
If they mention as free cloud hours there must be cloud hours with ads too. ![]()
Somewhat expensive. But hypothetically if someone wanted to play GTA6, it might be a lot easier and cheaper than buying a console and selling once done. Maybe.

I think other services do have expiring hours. I think Nvidia only lets you carry over 15 hours per a month. And I believe that going over the monthly hour limit has a higher rate than your initial set of hours. Actually a much higher rate.
I can see the value proposition if you don't want to pay upfront for new hardware, don't play a ton of games each year, and can live with not having permanent access to games. I played through Banjo-Kazooie via cloud streaming when I had PC Game Pass and it was... functional.
But I don't think it'll ever take off without permanent access to unlimited gaming during a set period of time. That's part of the value proposition of streaming, even if realistically people don't watch/play that much.

you do not need to subscribe to game pass to buy cloud hours

Still need actual Xbox system for that.
they dont want us to own our games
they want us to pay for games by the hour
fuck this model

Fairly certain I get 100 hours per month for similar on what it'd cost on Xbox. Only difference is I aint stuck using Xbox hardware, but Ultra PC settings (in other words, much better). So the only upside to this is having some games available that GFN does not have access to, but cant exactly say Id switch.
So for anyone that thinks this is cheap - you need to have an Xbox, you need to own the game or have it in Gamepass, and then you pay this on top.
If you own a smart tv or PC with GeForce Now, that is still cheaper / better if a game is available there too.
Still need actual Xbox system for that.
No? You only need a supported device. A typical mobile device is enough, or smart tv.
