《泰拉瑞亚》重做实用性较低的专家模式配饰(并新增一些)
Reworking less-useful Expert Mode accessories (and giving some new ones)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty confident we all agree that some Expert Mode accessories could use a rework, right?
If not, just to kinda go over my point, I feel like a lot of expert mode accessories feel like Huge Game Changing Accessories, and then the ones that aren't... feel completely useless for any point in progression. Like, I don't think every accessory needs to be the most important thing ever, and it's an inherent fact that accessory slots are always gonna be competitive, but a lot of these just feel never useful.
Everything up to Skeletron is just flawless in terms of Expert mode item design. The buff made to the brain of cthulhu makes it a really fun accessory that feels (to me) on par with the damage reduction frmo the worm scarf, the shield of cthulhu is an invaluable mobility/parrying tool, the royal gel is a niche utility accessory that fits the King Slime's minor boss status, the bee pack opens up a bunch of strong alternatives for every class...
The Bone Glove has always been in a weird place. I get why it's weird to make one of the Expert Accessories a weapon, but I almost feel like its old status as a weapon was more workable than its current status. Like, let me know if I'm wrong and I just missed that this is actually a huge sleeper accessory that deals way more damage than I thought, but I just don't feel like it's ever really worth it.
My idea for how I'd rework it is making it a weapon again, but specifically, it's a weapon with a sort of Universal damage type- it not only gets benefits from every damage type boost, but also, it gets affected from every weapon/damage-type specific accessory, like the harpy charm or the feral claws and so on. I feel like, if it's not gonna be a good accessory, let's at least give it the unique niche of being able to be affected by everything and applicable to every class.
Oh right, the Bone Helm also exists. I dunno, this one's fine specifically as a sort of early game AFK damage source. If someone wants to come up with a rework I'd hear it out but I think it serves a decent niche for how minor the Deerclops is.
Volatile Gelatin, on the other hand, feels entirely arbitrary. We've got too many auto-attack expert mode accessories and I feel like the Slime Queen has enough Thematic Elements that we can come up with something more interesting than that.
My idea for a rework is that it'd make it so that any time you land from a height that would cause fall damage, it'd bounce you back in the air (about 75% of the distance fallen) and fire a volley of those gel projectiles which deal damage proportional to the distance (capped out at what would be a 400 fall damage distance). This would be useful for a good amount of things (I'm not posting exact damage numbers because I'm not confident in my ability to math it out), but namely this would help with negating fall damage while on mounts that negate wings, as well as probably being pretty good with that Dead Cells accessory from the dungeons. And ultimately my reasoning is that this all goes in line with the soft-theming of the queen slime for giving classless buffs. Also, she bounces. It's bouncy. I think it's fun.
Alright, here's the big one: The Minecart Upgrade Kit sucks. They just didn't feel like making three different things for the mech bosses, that's my opinion. I honestly feel like you'd be better off removing it altogether, I just think that using the minecart to cheese bosses is really really really lame.
But to be a good sport about it, we don't have to remove it entirely, you could just make it craftable with the three mech souls.
My idea to replace them is that each of the mechs' accessories would instead be some sort of utility accessory:
The Twins drop the Mechanical Headset, an accessory which grants permanent improved night vision and creates a reticle around the nearest rare enemy (priority shared with the Lifeform Analyzer).
The Destroyer drops the Mechanical Drillbit, an accessory which grants an enormous dig speed bonus. I feel like at this point, dig speed is already high enough that a great big boost to it won't break balance or anything, but I'd appreciate it. It'd be real nice to rush Destroyer at the start of hardmode and grab a nice dig speed bonus to help with grabbing all that hardmode ore. Additionally, it grants a huge damage buff specifically to tools. Because it's like you ram into them while you're mining. I dunno that's not an important part of it I just think it'd be a funny extra effect. It wouldn't be enough to make tools, like, Actually Viable Weapons, just enough to shrug off worms and stuff you dig through.
Skeletron Prime drops the Mechanical Arms, an accessory which grants bonus building speed, and swats enemies immediately around you with very high knockback. The intention of course being to swat enemies away while you're building stuff- this wouldn't be significantly powerful, but it should be REALLY difficult for any knockback-susceptible enemies to actually get to you.
I've got mixed feelings on the Spore Sac. On one hand I don't Really like all the different AFK accessories, but on the other hand I think it has a valid niche as the strongest existant passive damage accessory. I think it'd be fine to keep them, but at the same time, it feels like a little bit of a waste since there's a lot of stuff you could do with Plantera. I dunno. Make it also drop some of those big spiky balls Plantera drops, they're fun.
The Shiny Stone I think could really use a rework to be something that's more actively usable than a slow health regen boost. I mean... It's not that slow it's just we're in the endgame I think it should do more.
My idea for a rework is that it'd work similar to the Ram Rune- you activate it by jumping in the air while pressing down. Once you hit the ground, it creates a huge eruption of stone from the ground below you, and encases you in stone similar to the Stoned debuff- for a few seconds, you take no damage and reflect all contact damage similar to turtle armor, and for this period you get very rapid health regen. This ability has a high cooldown period with a visual and audio cue for when it's off cooldown.
Empress of Light continues to be the best boss and her expert mode accessory is perfect for this point in the game.
The Shrimpy Truffle is also fine. It's basically an accessory as a mount, which is nice at this point in the game, and it specifically gives you the means to beat Duke Fishron easier once you've got it. No notes there.
Lastly, I've kinda got the inclination to give accessories to the raid bosses. Maybe a bit much, but I dunno I think they should all have expert mode drops.
Goblin Warlock drops the Shadow Pact, an accessory which negates Shadowflame immunity, triples the length of the debuff, and applies 10 Armor Piercing to any damage done to enemies suffering from Shadowflame.
The Flying Dutchman drops the Golden Bauble, an accessory that significantly improves Luck and specifically boosts the drop rates of items in the Pirate Raid because I hate farming for this stuff.
Pumpking drops the Horseman's Mantle, an accessory which tremendously boosts non-flying mounts' mobility with increased speed and a feather-fall effect when in the air- additionally, any mount damage will spawn homing pumpkin heads similar to the Horseman's Blade.
Everscream drops the Tree's Bane, an axe which Always makes one of those little Extra things drop from a tree (after the initial cooldown for each tree).
Santa-NK1 drops the Toy Tank. From Master Mode. It's too unique to be relegated to Worse Expert Mode.
Ice Queen drops Silver Bells, an accessory which causes attacks to release a burst of icicles which chain together (similar to the snapping stone, with a similar, shorter cooldown)- normal enemies hit briefly freeze in place, while bosses hit receive a long-lasting Frostburn. This is all, of course, more for crowd control than boss damage.
Finally, Martian Saucer drops the Martian Jetpack, a set of wings that are comparable to those dropped from EoL and Duke Fishron, but a bit slower- in turn, when at low health (~25%), the jetpack short circuts, releasing damaging sparks and increasing speed drastically until returning to above that threshold.
