A free app called DroidDeck lets Android phones and handhelds run Steam and play PC games directly on the device, with no gaming PC needed.
The app was released on GitHub in late September 2026 and quickly caught on with fans.
Most ways of playing PC games on a phone involve streaming them from a computer elsewhere. DroidDeck works differently. It runs the real Steam app on your phone, along with similar tools to the ones Valve uses to get Windows games working on the Steam Deck.
The result looks and works much like a Steam Deck, complete with the same menus and performance stats. It can also pull in games from GOG, Epic and Amazon, and install emulators for older consoles.
The catch is that it won’t work on every phone. DroidDeck is built for devices with recent Qualcomm Snapdragon chips, which rules out most phones made by Google and many Samsung models.
That generally means phones and handhelds with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip or newer, including Samsung’s Galaxy S25, S25 Plus and S25 Ultra, gaming phones from ASUS ROG and RedMagic, and handhelds like the AYN Odin 2.
Setting it up takes around 3GB of storage and a quick change to one of your phone’s developer settings, but there’s no need to hack or jailbreak your device.
Some versions of the app also use an unusual trick to squeeze out extra power. According to Gadget Pilipinas, three of them disguise themselves as PUBG Mobile and two popular benchmarking apps, because some phones only switch on their high-performance modes for apps with those names.
The developers say how well games run will vary from phone to phone, and that testing on different hardware is still limited. The app also isn’t made by or affiliated with Valve.
They’ve warned there’s no official DroidDeck website either, and that download links from any site claiming to be the team shouldn’t be trusted. The only official places to get it are its GitHub page and the project’s Discord server.
