像 Nightdive 和 Digital Eclipse 这样专注于高清复刻的工作室会受到粉丝高清复刻浪潮的影响吗?
Will remaster-focused studios like Nightdive and Digital Eclipse be impacted by the wave of fan remasters?
So with all the fan-made ports/remasters/recomps going on, there's a lot of impressive stuff coming out there where old and forgotten console ports get graphic settings menus, bug fixes, high quality 4K resolution and 60fps options. It sometimes feels like it's a sort of Nightdive level of quality in certain situations.
But given this wave of fan remasters and ports coming out, I'm wondering if the market will be more competitive and over-saturated that will affect studios like Nightdive and Digital Eclipse who already have a very limited audience where their projects have relatively limited reach and low CCU numbers. So I could imagine it's likely that this wave of fan remasters will take up the time and attention from the older people who would otherwise want to spend money on Nightdive's or Digital Eclipse's next game. But maybe I'm wrong, who knows.
What do you think? Will this wave of fan remasters make it more difficult for Nightdive et al?

normies won't bother with these decomps.
I hope there'll always be a market for people like me that don't game on PC and won't touch this AI-infested shit with a ten-foot pole.
Doubtful, none of these games would probably get a remaster anyways. There's no audience, other than the very specific niche of players that even know what a recomp/decomp is.
Doubt it. For the same reason piracy didn't kill PC games or Steam. A decent remaster sold officially with support will still be fine.
Now, it will probably make things much worse for the likes of MATABOO's Shogun 2 dumpster fire. Which is fine. And GTA DE on PC stuff won't do well, though console players are still screwed there.

Not for me. I support real work by professionals.
I don't think they have anything to worry about in regards to this
I like to think that most people who are aware that these exist are also aware of how incredibly dangerous using vibecoded software is, so hopefully not.
Are the same people participating in this new AI recomp craze buying those ports in the first place?
nah. normies are just not going to do what's needed. like say they don't care about doing it legally and they're fine with a rom that's still too much effort for them.
none of this vibecoded junk get even closer to the effort level of stuff like the making of karateka or even the blood rereleases
zero risk
Time will tell. It will impact potential sales but by how much, who knows.
Considering their remasters are extremely high quality and meticulously done I don't think they have anything to worry about.
I think they're more likely to be impacted by studios "doing it themselves" instead of contracting it out. The benefit of a Nightdive type game is it's easy to purchase and just play forgotten or unported games. The "fan remasters" technically require you to own the game already which may or may not be readily available to legally acquire on PC. The creators of the game or publisher could just as quickly/"more effectively" churn out an AI assisted remaster with the source code readily available if necessary.
they're not threatened by myriad "I played it for an hour seems fine" slop ports that are barely functional.
I think most people will prefer paying for an official release if available
Will they be impacted by low effort cuck-coded slop?
Nah, they'll be fine.

Vast majority of people think downloading and setting up an emulator is hard. Downloading these ports, sourcing and building the files? Nah, it's an enthusiast-only thing.
Not to mention consoles are still a big market.
I really doubt it. When I buy a Nightdive game, I know that it is going to have features and details that could never be done by AI. The quality and care they put into their remasters are stellar.

No. These vibe coded slops aren't on console either
Nah, there's a level of care and QoL that studios like Nightdive put into their remasters, and I like to think fans really appreciate that. Also helps that Nightdive tends to put out their remasters on console so I'm sure that helps in keeping these low effort decomps from reaching a more casual crowd.
It's a bit hyped up right now as it's the new thing to do but I still think this is a niche thing for only a certain subset of people and wouldn't really impact proper releases. Not any more than say emulation already did. I use emulators all the time and yet I will still turn up for a good remaster.
This is basically bringing to old console releases what was sometimes already possible from modding old PC games.
People these days don't know how to download a Bit Torrent file so no, no worries.

Yet.
