Take a tiny café and turn it into a massive business empire. That’s what Percolate: Business Tycoon lets you do, much like Side Labs’ Coffee Inc games. Developed and published independently by solo dev fraplsr, Percolate starts you off with a single café in Lisbon.

Don’t let your company sink into the financial equivalent of a soggy biscuit!

From Lisbon, you can work your way across 10 cities and eight different business sectors. The cities include Krakow, Lyon, Rome, Madrid, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, London and New York. Each city has its own isometric map featuring districts, landmarks, rivers and parks, with locations ranging from the Tagus River to the Statue of Liberty. Rents, wages, prices and customer footfall vary between cities, so a shop that makes a tidy profit in one place might struggle somewhere else.

The sectors you can get into are cafés, bakeries, groceries, restaurants, hotels, gyms, electronics and apparel, and boutiques. You can open different types of cafés, including kiosks, regular cafés, drive-throughs and flagship locations, create your own drink recipes and operate a roastery.

Minimarkets give you control over product ranges, shelves, checkouts and shoplifting security. Meanwhile, restaurants require you to manage the kitchen, dining room and service capacity to determine how many customers you can serve.

Hotels involve managing rooms across several floors, setting rates and handling bookings. Gyms work a little differently, as members sign up on their own depending on your prices, equipment and overall quality. Electronics stores have products that age and eventually get replaced by newer generations. Lastly, boutiques require you to keep an eye on collections, seasons and sizes.

Percolate: Business Tycoon lets you unlock new sectors through the Business School. Courses are paid for using company funds and complete automatically after a few in-game weeks, letting you move into new industries as your company grows.

Percolate: Business Tycoon lets you pick one of four difficulty levels and play through five scenarios. You can customise your company with its own logo and colours, choose from 20 characters consisting of 10 women and 10 men. Also, staff and customers can move around inside the game’s live 3D interiors.
