It's Halloween season and our horror game releases right in time!

After two years of development in our spare time—alongside our work as comic book artists and with no budget—we are delighted to present our first professional video game!
Part romance, part horror, The Doll Shop is the tale of a quiet, secretive dollmaker living in the Japanese countryside. When his childhood friend returns to the village, he must choose between his beloved dolls and the hope of a new life... if it’s not already too late.
The game is available in 4 languages: English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and French!

INSPIRATIONS
Most of the backgrounds and details in The Doll Shop are directly inspired by our life in Northern Japan. We lived one entire year in Niigata back in 2009-2010 and came back several times during the last 20 years. We brought back many watercolor sketches and pictures and used them for reference when creating this game.

MAKING OF
Recently, Jay, our Chinese translator (who also works as a 2D animation artist) asked us how we created the 3D scenes in The Doll Shop. The answer is “there is no 3D, it’s a trick!”. Everything is hand-drawn in 2D, the camera is up and each sprite is bent over a 30% angle, just like on the following pictures.

Right from the start of the project, we dreamed of releasing it around Halloween—our favorite period of year. And we did it! The Doll Shop is the perfect game for a sleepover with friends on October 31st!
Are you ready to step into the twisted mind of a strange dollmaker?
