We hope you’re good at reading names with apostrophes interjected into them at random intervals because Hearthstone’s newly released Reign of the Black Empire expansion has a whole freakin’ lot of them. OK, it only has four, but they’re still an absolute mouthful.
The centerpiece of this new expansion are the four old god cards, which let players command C’Thun, N’Zoth, Yogg-Saron, or Y’Shaarj, each of whom has their own set of four unique abilities that can completely change the tide of battle. Choose wisely, though; you’re only allowed one old god card in a deck.
Another marquee feature is the “assemble” keyword, which lets some new cards combine minions from a curated pool into some potent new creations. Finally, Titan-forged cards arrive with the expansion that promise new tools to fight against the threat of the old gods.
Other updates that have come with the expansion’s launch include a new tavern pass, several arena updates, the beginning of the journey feature and its associated journal, and several new events. More details are provided in the patch notes.
