WARDOGS Season 2

Wardogs developer Bulkhead has responded to widespread criticism of Season 2, admitting that its progression changes were a mistake. Following complaints about players unlocking high-level equipment too quickly, the studio has confirmed balance adjustments, removed controversial XP bonuses, and revealed that Season 3 could arrive earlier than originally planned.

Season 2 launched on October 15, 2026, promising a fresh start through a progression wipe and gameplay adjustments. However, the faster progression system allowed some players to unlock Tier 4 armor, main battle tanks (MBTs), and other end-game equipment within days, undermining the intended reset.

In a statement shared on X, Bulkhead acknowledged that accelerating progression had negatively affected the experience.

“Season 2 was meant to be a fresh start, and for a lot of you it hasn’t felt like one”

The developer explained, admitting that deliberately increasing progression speed was the wrong decision. Bulkhead confirmed that some balance problems would receive fixes, while changes dividing community opinion would be monitored before further adjustments.

Wardogs Removes Blue Team XP and Cash Bonuses

Another controversial Season 2 feature involved additional rewards for players joining Lonestar, commonly known as Blue Team. The faction had struggled with low win rates, prompting Bulkhead to introduce a 5% cash bonus and 2.5% XP bonus to encourage participation.

However, the experiment quickly backfired. Experienced players joined Blue Team to maximize rewards, earning thousands of additional war dollars and gaining a progression advantage. Other players repeatedly left servers when Blue Team was full, causing matchmaking delays.

Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer acknowledged the mistake in a video response, stating, “We were wrong. We f**ed up.” Although the bonuses were originally expected to remain available for approximately one week, Bulkhead removed them through a hotfix after just one day.

The developer also confirmed that adjustments to spawn locations on the Bakuriani map had already improved faction balance. Those changes will remain in place.

Vehicle XP Exploit and Progression Changes

Bulkhead has also addressed a vehicle XP exploit involving players repeatedly driving in and out of faction headquarters to collect experience rewards.

Season 2 increased XP rewards for logistical activities, including successful return trips. Players exploited these rewards to unlock advanced vehicles, including tanks, earlier than intended. As a temporary solution, vehicle progression rates have been reduced to Season 1 levels.

Wardogs Season 3 Could Launch Earlier Than Planned

Despite requests for another progression wipe, Bulkhead confirmed that Season 2 would not receive an immediate reset over the weekend of October 17-18. The studio explained that another wipe would be unfair to players satisfied with their current progress.

Instead, Bulkhead is considering bringing Season 3 forward significantly, potentially alongside content originally planned for that season. The developer expects to share further information in its next developer vlog, scheduled for the following week. However, an earlier Season 3 release has not been confirmed.
