你希望在 DualSense 2 / Edge 2 中看到哪些功能?
What's features would you like to see in the DualSense 2 / Edge 2?
A new gen is approaching and of course that means a new controller. This gen Sony had the DualSense that introduced a lot of features from the previous generations such as haptics and adaptive triggers. They also introduced their first high end controller with the DualSense Edge. There've been a lot of threads on various patents Sony has filed relating to controllers, so my question is what features would you like to see?
For me:
- Fluidic adaptive buttons, sticks and triggers. Take the concept of what they did with the adaptive triggers and extend it to the entire controller. Curious if this mechanism could also help eliminate stick drift?
- Solar charging. Give the controller an extra way to passively charge both when in use and when not in use via ambient lighting
- Heating/Cooling elements. They've had patents relating to this for many years and the technology technically exists in their Reon personal devices. Not only could it be a way for devs to add an extra layer of immersion to their games, but I believe some of the patents mention using this tech to improve comfort during long gaming sessions and dealing with sweaty hands
- Larger battery. All these nifty features would need a larger battery. Maybe a replaceable battery too, but if such a feature were to come that might only be on the Edge 2
- NFC. There was recent talk about them allowing you to use the controller to pay with your credit card. It could also be a nice, quick way to pair your controller to the console with a quick tap
- Even stronger haptics. The DualSense is already immaculate with its haptics and I'd be happy if they kept it as-is for the successor, but no harm in hoping for something stronger
Hall effect sticks
Better battery
Lose the light; it adds nothing
Double the battery life
All I want is a better battery lol
-TMR sticks
-Better battery life
-I'd like the next DualSense to be shaped more like the DS4. Slightly smaller than the DualSense and slightly larger than the DS4
Removable battery & sticks that aren't designed to fail.
Same thing I want in the standard Dualsense 2, magnetic sticks and better battery.
Better battery and bring back Pressure-Sensitive Buttons (for the face buttons, Square, Cross, Circle and Triangle).
-TMR sticks
-Better battery life

Yeah I love the dual sense but when it came out I was annoyed at how "chunky" it is compared to the DS4. I remember games like Souls/Elden Ring would hurt my hand since I always had to feel like I was stretching my fingers more to hit the L1R1 buttons a lot.
I love my edge, just give me battery that isn't buns
Removable battery & sticks that aren't designed to fail.
It's astonishing that they put modular, user-purchasable sticks into the Edge instead of just using shit that works like Hall Effect or TMR.
battery life longer than 5 minutes
sticks that don't start drifting after a session
more buttons
touchpad replacing the right stick
look, just remove the fancy motors if they are going to kill battery life. I turn off vibration every time anyway. The battery life is still shit.
it's easily the worst controller this gen and given how Sony has decided to control who can make PS5 controllers, there is no good alternative.
A physical disc drive
Ditch the stupid removable sticks and just put proper TMR sticks in. Improve the battery life ten fold.
Will be one of the best controllers on the market with those changes.
Removable battery & sticks that aren't designed to fail.
It's this, for all controllers. I'm not buying any others that don't meet this criteria
-Closer to DS4 in size
-DS4 dpad or Vita dpad
- DS4 PS button; feels better to press than the DualSense
- 2 back buttons; not a fan of the levers on the Edge
Charging puck and mouse-like rollable wheel for their next controller.
touch capacitors on the joysticks to enable / disable gyro aim on thumb resting on a stick like the steam deck
battery life longer than 5 minutes
sticks that don't start drifting after a session
more buttons
touchpad replacing the right stick

Dude, what do you do to your controllers? Had mine since launch, and still no drift. Also, have plenty of controllers for years with no drift either.
A physical disc drive
On the controller? ![]()

It's not too surprising honestly. When so many people default to buying first-party peripherals, there's no reason for Sony to make something that doesn't break eventually, especially given how much money is in the peripheral market.
Bring back analog buttons.
Also, give the face buttons their color back!

Can't be worse than an N64 pad!
Better battery and a dongle for PC.
Can't be worse than an N64 pad!
It gotta be if their controllers start drifting after one session. ![]()
Small screen but with the ability to turn it completely off and it becoming just a regular touchpad.
Better battery life. The battery life on the Sony controllers past the Dualshock 3 has been really poor compared to the competition.
Hall Effect / TMR sticks. Drift shouldn't be a thing when there are solutions for the issue.
4 back buttons/paddles instead of 2 for the Edge. Or even be like Nintendo and put 2 in to the basic controller (by basic here I mean the Switch 2 Pro Controller.
I haven't bought a Dualsense Edge because of the small battery, so that!
Touch sensing bumpers so that they can be split into multiple buttons or used as mouse wheels via software.
Better battery life and no more stick drift is all I ask.
Durability. Just give me a controller that doesn't have some issue after a year or two.
just non-drift sticks really, can't ever justify buying first party when the sticks drift and the controller costs more
Off the top of my head, improved battery and sticks.
Bring back the color to the face buttons. Really miss them lol, also in the game interface and huds. The basic white buttons are meh, I want my colorful face symbols back lol
Credit card reader for when you have to pay to turn on the controller
Clock for counting down until you have to pay again to get more game time.
Separate lisence clock that counts down to when the licenses to your games expire.
Lock that shuts off the controller if you run out of game time.
Microtransactions button that syncs to every game. In Fortnite it buys vbucks, in Assassin's Creed it buys creedbucks etc.
Ideally, TMR sticks, 2x battery life, and overall size back down to approximately DualShock 4 but I know that this is likely an impossible ask.
triple battery, hall effect sticks, lighter
Just having any kind of battery would be good. DS is basically a wired controller with how poor its battery life is. I'd also love the haptics and adaptive triggers motors to be way quieter - they are super loud and it's kind of awful unless you crank your volume to cover it up.
Hall effect sticks
Better battery
Lose the light; it adds nothing
Add in better battery and REPLACEABLE battery.
Allow the profile paddles to be an actual button as well, instead of switching profiles.
Should be standard in even the basic controller going forward.
Hall Effect or TMR Sticks / Triggers.
Bigger, longer lasting battery.
Anything else is a bonus.
a nuclear station of a battery, thing is pretty perfect other than that, maybe per game setup on software side
Hall effect or TMR sticks. Paddles by default.
Better battery. A WAY BETTER battery.
And hall effect sticks.
whatever they do, keep how quiet it is. by far the best controller just because it's not waking-up-the-whole-house loud and clacky
edit: serious answer, UMD slot so I can watch Spiderman 2 on the new OLED controller screen
Here's what I'd love to see as the evolution of the DualSense:
- Hall Effect Sticks + Dynamic Resistance: Magnetic sensors to eliminate stick drift once and for all, combined with adaptive trigger tech applied to the thumbsticks to simulate resistance, inertia, and physical effort during movement.
- Upgraded Battery & Smart Standby: A larger capacity battery paired with micro-proximity sensors that put the controller into a deep power-saving mode whenever you set it down.
- Adaptive Triggers v2: Smaller, quieter, and more durable brushless motors to deliver sharp hard-stops and even more precise feedback.
- "Dual-Layer" Haptic Feedback: An array of micro-actuators distributed across the grips and D-Pad for pinpoint spatial haptic awareness.
- Two-Zone Progressive LED Strip: A split left/right light strip with smooth gradient control, allowing for custom color combinations and partial lighting effects.
- Qi2 Wireless Charging: Universal inductive charging compatible with any standard Qi2 pad.
- AI-Powered Mic: Dedicated hardware-level active noise cancellation to isolate your voice and cut out button clicks during voice chat.
TMR sticks, better battery life, and the ability to completely disable haptics and the device's lights at the device level.
LAIR REMAKE with proper SixAxis 2.0.
