NIS America and Falcom will bring Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA to Nintendo Switch 2 on 25 February 2027, running at up to 120 frames per second.
The announcement arrived on 20 October alongside a Switch 2 announce trailer on NIS America’s YouTube channel. The port adds GameShare support, letting two players share the action RPG locally across a second console, and the companies say it will also feature Spanish-language support for the first time. The “up to” in the frame rate claim marks a ceiling, not a locked target.
A decade of ports
Ys VIII first launched on PS Vita on 21 July 2016, and has since travelled steadily: PS4 in May 2017, PC via Steam in April 2018, the original Nintendo Switch on 26 June 2018, Stadia in April 2021 and PlayStation 5 in November 2022. The Switch 2 version is the first appearance of Falcom’s shipwreck survival adventure on the newer hardware, and part of the early wave of Switch 2 ports of existing titles.
What it means for players here
No price, pre-order details or upgrade path for existing owners have been announced, and there is no Australian pricing yet. The Switch 2 version follows Nintendo’s own Switch 2 release-date news for Dragon Quest XI S: Definitive Edition, as publishers move their back catalogues onto the new console.
