Football Manager has solidified itself as a staple in the sports games genre. From building your very own tactics to buying and selling players on the transfer market and taking charge of training sessions, it’s a manager’s dream for those who prefer to be off the pitch.

Annual releases aim to continuously improve the series with new additions and polish existing content. A Launch Preview has been announced for Football Manager 27 ahead of the release date, which grants early access to the game, free of charge.

It’s not uncommon for games to have free trial periods. Call of Duty is one such example that has historically offered free-to-play weekends that unlock premium content for new players to take for a spin for a limited time. Many modern releases also offer early access as a pre-order incentive, allowing players to load in a few days early.

With that said, it’s highly unusual for games to make a huge chunk of their content available ahead of its official launch date, especially when pre-orders are yet to go live.

Football Manager 27 Opens its Doors Early

Beginning on October 29 from 6pm GMT and running for the next five days until November 3, the Football Manager 27 Launch Preview will be available to play for free on Steam, Epic, the Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

There’s no additional sign-up required or steps you have to take to gain entry. All you have to do is download the Football Manager 27 Launch Preview from your preferred storefront, and you can try out the various features the upcoming entry in the series has to offer.

The Football Manager 27 Launch Preview will replace what was previously known as Beta periods or Advanced Access, and is intended to be a version of the title that is closer in quality to the final launch than previous early playable builds.

Along with the free-to-play window, pre-orders will go live for Football Manager 27 with 10% slashed off the price tag. Placing a pre-order also extends your Launch Preview access from 6pm GMT on November 3, all the way to the game’s full release on November 10. If you’ve started playing via Game Pass, you’ll be able to continue your playthrough on Game Pass, as long as you’ve got an active subscription.

All saves started during the free play period can be continued through to both the paid Launch Preview and full release without the need to start over again, so you can really take advantage of this extra time. However, Sports Interactive notes that “this version contains information that is still under approval process by right holders and may contain data that does not, at this time, accurately reflect real world data. For context, some club and player assets may be absent during this version.”

Football Manager 27 will aim to right the wrongs of its predecessor, which received a negative reception from fans. Included is greater immersion, delivered through an enhanced 2D Match Engine, deeper world upgrades, Tactical Effectiveness elements that build on the previous Tactical Familiarity system that let you play a bigger role from the touchline, and so much more.

With the Football Manager 27 Launch Preview just around the corner, it won’t be long until players get to see these new features in action.
