Soon, you'll be able to customize your stage name in The Community Notes Are Wrong!

This is something I've gone back and forth on for a while. While Ayla is an established protagonist, player feedback, including a helpful thread on r/IndieOtome, showed an overwhelming preference for name customization. The lack of self-insert mechanics is a major hurdle for itch players when deciding whether to try a game, so my goal with this update is to lower that barrier and make the story more accessible to players who love to self-insert.

After looking closely at the story, I realized changing Ayla's stage name doesn't break the narrative, and programmatically, it's straightforward to implement. To ensure quality, I'm writing alternate dialogue for nicknames and wordplay so that choosing a custom name feels just as rich and seamless as playing with the default, Ayla Solace.

Ayla's legal Cantonese surname, Sou, which appears later in the story, will remain fixed.

What about Ayla's sprite and CGs?
If I decide to add an option to toggle Ayla's sprite off during gameplay, please note that she will still appear in CGs. Alternate CG artwork simply isn't in the budget!

Will there be pronoun customization?
No, pronoun options will not be added. While Ayla's stage name is flexible, her gender is a core part of the story. Ayla is not male or non-binary; she is written specifically as a bisexual woman. Key character dynamics—such as Levi and Cheri being heterosexual and lesbian, respectively—are tightly woven into the narrative. Changing Ayla's pronouns or gender would contradict established canon.
