Best way I've seen someone describe this game is Life is Strange crossed with NieR: Automata. You talk to characters, switch between different time periods and solve puzzles. If you want to see it in action, Janet Garcia is playing it right now:

I had a feeling this was the game she was talking about when she made that tweet of hers a while back. Super high praise from Natalie. Has me even more excited to play (after work
).

I assumed it was animal well because I'd straight up never heard of this game before, had no idea we had another winner dropping today lol. I value her opinion though, definitely checking this out on Switch

Yeeeeees. Incredible review.
Been following for years (maybe?) and this felt like a shadow drop!

The game completely snuck up on me. I played the demo weeks ago and was immediately sold. Word of mouth will be strong with this one I think. I can see it on a lot of Top 10 lists by the end of the year.
This looks interesting, but why the hell did it have to drop the same day as Animal Well and Crow Country? Will struggle to pick which to play this weekend lol.

Tried the demo out last year and raved about it, it was incredible. Glad to see the full release looks just as great.
What the hell. I just bought 4 games today! But for all the price of just over one AAA game.
Crow Country
Little Kitty Big City
Animal Well
1000xRESIST
Yeah today might be rough on my pocket. I'm not sure if I want 1000 or crow country first.

I'm so stoked, been craving a new narrative-driven game for awhile now and this looks right up my alley

One of my biggest gaming regrets was not playing Vanillaware's time-travel narrative adventure 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim when it was released in 2019. Everybody around me kept telling me to just pick up the damn game and give it a try because they knew I would like it. I didn't play it until 2023, at which point I quickly smacked myself over the head because it was absolutely my type of game.
So I'm happy to say that I got in on the ground floor with 1000xRESIST —another "extremely my shit" game—out on May 9 for PC and Nintendo Switch. I know I would regret sleeping on this twisting experimental narrative, so I'm here to make sure you don't make that mistake.
Beginning at what appears to be the end, 1000xRESIST is a story-driven adventure about time and identity. You are Watcher, one of many clones, and one of the first things you witness is your character killing a former ally over some ideological impasse. But without much context, you have to go back to the start to learn how Watcher gets to that point.
As she shifts across different time periods to explore the world and these scenarios, Watcher sometimes encounters conversations so emotionally charged and pivotal that she is pulled into a distortion of time and space. These liminal environments are often stark white and filled with giant floating furniture, turning the game into a puzzle platformer with hints of Gravity Rush, in which you must fling Watcher through space to specific floating points. It's a more action-driven engagement that helps break up what could be a tiring bombardment of dialogue.
The game's first five hours evoke shades of NieR: Automata and 13 Sentinels, while developer sunset visitor 斜陽過客 has cited even more expansive inspirations on social media. It's a stylish amalgamation of artistic sensibilities that has been nothing but exceptional during my time with it. I can't wait to see what else 1000xRESIST has in store for me.

It's absurd how good a *day* this is for indie games. Let alone a week.

I just find out about all of these a few days ago. I thought nothing was coming out this month that I'd be interested in. I've been so focused on the AAA game releases instead of indie games. I'm definitely going to start paying more attention to them.
1000xRESIST is right up my alley. Bought it and Crow Country.
Cant buy it in China for whatever reason....
Hopefully keys will pop up in keystores soon.
Never heard of this game until today but I've heard such high praise for it already that I think I have no choice but to just buy it and go in completely blind.

Cannot overstate how much my brain goes "
" as soon as I see something formatted like [T]his lol, terminal Nier brain.
Crazy week but definitely picking this up.
Wow, this wasn't on my radar at all but this looks awesome! No idea what type of game this is but really liking what I am seeing!

pretty much mirrors my list sans V Rising.
Over at the AMA, the creative director Remy was asked about what would they consider to be one of their homes away from home and they responded,
This is such a profound question, what is our home away from home -- at least speaking personally, my home away from home are these malls in Richmond (a city near Vancouver) that feel like frozen capsules of the 90s HK. It's like a moment in time has been captured and isolated, and is exactly as I remember it as a child. Thank you for such a provocative question!
And like, it's a little silly to say this but I got chills a lil bc I felt that!!! I absolutely felt that with all of my heart!!! I know exactly how that feels like and how these foreign but also somehow familiar places can make your heart full, make your heart ache, make you miss home, make you feel like you're home, make you big and small and insignificant and important,,, all at the same damn time!
Idk I'm excited for this game for various reasons, but the thing I'm most excited about is the wrestling with diaspora. Really cool to see that a game is tackling that head on, and in ways that speak and sing to particular people in personal and embodied ways. Really cool that it can look at them and acknowledge them in a very specific, very "you and me in correspondence" way, you know?
So much other interesting stuff too: in-depth insights and advice on game development, movie recs and inspos, blaming FF7 OG, of course some Yamada praise. It's been a fun time.
All I knew about this before today was that it's speculative sci-fi. Reading the actual plot, it sounds amazing. "They weren't hostile, but it didn't matter," is such a raw sentence.
What the hell. I just bought 4 games today! But for all the price of just over one AAA game.

And we have arrived. Time to dig in.
Just grabbed this myself. Wasn't aware of it but the trailer sold me
How's the Switch performance? Though it might be too early to tell.
I saw this in the eShop a few days back and thought it looked interesting, so getting this kind of praise definitely makes me want to check it out. I actually thought it was reminiscent of Signalis, so cool to see that dev supporting it too.

They basically had to completely rebuild the game from scratch to get it working on Switch then brought those changes forward to the PC version. I hope all that effort wasn't in vain ![]()
It runs at 50-90 FPS on the Deck. I'm guessing Switch sits at a locked 30 or very close to it going by these numbers.

Really excited to dig into this. Demo was great.
Great to hear :DDD
I had it in my wishlist because of a couple of tweets mentioning the game, but seeing all these stellar impression will make me play it over this week end!

I can live with locked 30, though the Deck is also an option so maybe I'll think about that. I'll see how the initial impressions go.

the trailer definitely intrigued me but hype from the SIGNALIS devs sold me!
Excited to dive into it this weekend.
Gonna grab it probably tomorrow (thinking about offloading my XSX lol). Got an email that it launched and completely forgot I'd wishlisted it at some point.
Just inspired by Satoshi Kon, Wong Kar-Wai, and Yoko Taro. No big deal.
Does the demo carry over/is it worth playing the demo first?
